Why do y'all say GT sucks?

Hey, GT18YJ, compare these two photos, one with the Vols on offense, and the other with Ga Tech on offense:

We already talked through the first image. Only thing I'll add is, notice how all the Vols linemen are still vertical, about 3 seconds into the play.

Now check the second image. Count Ga Tech helmets: you'll see seven (one in a guy's crotch, heh). That means the other four, all linemen, are already prone from cut blocking in the middle of the line, just 1-2 seconds into the play.

That's how our offenses are very, very different. And that's why the transitive property doesn't help you at all.

p.s. I just pulled the second image at random from the internet. Typed in "Georgia Tech cut blocks" and it's one of the first that came up. But there were a lot to choose from.

Exactly! Please explain this to your whiny fans that are complaining about our bowl game with Kentucky. They would rather agree with Stoops than watch it for themselves. Even the announcers backhandedly called him stupid.

Lol stoops had a decent argument after several injuries.

Although Georgia Tech's offense allowed the Yellow Jackets (9-4) to build a 20-point lead and then hold on for a 33-18 victory over Kentucky (7-6), Tech's blocking tactics raised the ire of Wildcats coach Mark Stoops.

Stoops and Yellow Jackets coach Paul Johnson got into a first-half shouting match while Kentucky’s training staff tended to one of several injured players, and Stoops later let the officials have it before heading to his locker room at halftime.

What I find hilarious is you GT fans jumping to the next teams boards y'all play week to week to try and defend it.

Notice that said first half they got in to it. He had enough by halftime. GT doesn't sporadically aim at knees through the game it's every play from the beginning to the end. Hell, GT still uses it even burning the clock up when ahead by 28 and 2 minutes left. Lol

Yeah, I already mentioned it a few days ago...I find it utterly exhausting just to imagine. No way I would do that, week after week and year after year. I'd hate football if I had to do that.

To answer the OP's original question, as he said everybody (Mercer, Ga southern, SC State, whoever) says that Tech is weak because they look at the school and it's not a "football" school like it was 50 years ago. People look at butts in seats and ignore the fact that many of the grads leave Atlanta for work. Also the fact that a large portion of the school is foreign-born and cares nothing about football. The SEC will alwaoys have the best fanbases but that doesnt' mean always the best football.

The biggest hindrance to GT football is the Georgia Board of Regents. People talk about how other "smart" schools can compete at the top, but remember private schools can create any academic major they want and make unlimited exceptions on admissions. Georgia Tech is competing for private school talent with public school restrictions and that is where the BOR comes in.

The BOR in Georgia is run by a bunch of mutts who see GT as an athletic threat. That's why currently all the majors require you to take collegel evel calculus; how many studetns at UT would fail out if they had to pass calc? And so because the BOR controls the curriculum that doesn't allow GT to create "athelete-friendly majors, or technology majors beyond engineering that would result in more local kids attending. Right now seems like they want all the kids to go to Kennesaw State.

Now that said, I'm not saying the BOR has hurt the "school" as it pertains to college. They rank 1 spot out of the top 50 of endowments with a top 15 research budget. The "school" is doing great, and that's why I say it cannot complete in the current college landscape.

In my lifetime I sincerely believe we will see athletics seperated from academics. You'll still have the Tennessee Volunteers, but they will basically be a separate entity sponsored by the school for the purpose of retaining profit. They will essentially license the brand. Too much of the university is at risk especially with the concussion sitaution, and as soon as you have a minor league NBA and NFL they will realize that not paying your players will result in fielding talent that is equivalent to MTSU. It would lead to a bad product, bad ratings, and loss of money. The only reason for no minor league today is that there is no money in it; if you license the "Vols" now you have a following.

Once again don't take the words of others (stoops) go watch it for yourself. He assumed they were hurt from cut blocks, when in reality he probably didn't even see it happen.

Good info!!!! The BOR, from what I have heard is ridiculous. If I'm not mistaken a few years ago GT applied for a new degree option, and it got denied because UGA already had it and they are in the same state. But now UGA has been approved for engineering.
