Why do you hate Tom Brady? aka the Brady bashers thread

Hate is a strong word.

Just think the guy gets way too much credit. Put him on most other teams and he is just another good QB.

Tom Brady is no Joe Montana, John Elway or Brett Favre. You might compare him to Aikman.

You're right about him not being an Elway or Favre, he has too many rings to be compared to them at this point.

Please. When he can do the things that Favre and Elway were able to do, let me know. You could plug Favre and Elway in place of Tom Brady and they would do everything that he did and more.

I guess Brady wouldn't be able to do anything with those rags on the Colts offense either, huh?

Never said he wasn't a good QB. Just that he gets all the credit while his defense is a major part of their success. Like I said, I would compare him to Troy Aikman, who was a good QB.

yeah, he wins over the teams i root for? what do you expect? and as for Bradshaw, he was one of my favorites...i remember as a kid, i had to have his jersey and a helmet etc.....loved the guy....now, i do know what you mean though, there were some bad feelings there between fans and him....but not all fans.
What bad feelings, I missed that one.

yeah, and i think i seem to remember the heisman going to one Ricky Williams based on a career...hm. Oh well, the heisman doesn't mean anything anymore....all hype.

and we all know how the pro careers of who finished 1 and 2 in that 97 heisman vote worked out huh?

First, do you really believe that Michael Bishop should have won the Heisman over Ricky Williams that year???

Second, the Heisman is a college award, not a how well will you do in the NFL award. Oh, and, Woodson at least has a Super Bowl appearance...

You could say the same of Tee Martin, who was a good QB, but it was the defense that won the NC, just like NE's D won their Super Bowls for them.

That is hilarious...Tee Martin actually had a worse defense in '98 than Peyton did in '97. So, you lose Leonard Little and Terry Fair and the defense gets better???

When he can do the things that Favre can do??? Granted, sometimes Favre throws for 5 TDs in one game, but he also has a handful of 4 and 5 INT games as well. I would definitely take Brady over Favre.

The Heisman is a joke any more. Can anyone name the past 5 Heisman winners off of the top of their head?

You have to be from USC, Ohio State, Florida State, Michigan, Miami, Notre Dame, Texas or Oklahoma to win the Heisman. In other words, a media darling school.
Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart, Jason White, Carson Palmer... Chris Weinke?

i'm not up on the whole story, but there was some pretty stron resentment between Bradshaw and Steeler fans....for a number of reasons...but apparently it wasn't up until about 3 or 4 years ago where Bradshaw actually went back to Pittsburrh since he retired......never went back for a game, reunion, nothing.....for almost 20 years. A lot of that probably was self induced by Bradshaw who was a manic depressive or something for a long time, and he probably imagined it to be a lot worse than it actually was.....

presetnly, though, all that is water under one of the many bridges in Pittsburgh, and all is well now....

i'm not getting in to a heisman debate....but all they kept saying about Manning was nice career, and the award wasn't a career award, a season award, and he couldn't beat Florida. Ricky Williams gets up there and the only stats they ever showed was his career stats? just a bunch of crap...and yeah, if Woodson can win it, then Biship sure as hell could.

And i only point out the pro career paths to show what a great judge of football talent the award is....i do agree though that it has nothing to do with that, because there haven't been any heisman winners in quite some time to do anything i would call great.....

and i'm sure Woodson sits around all day and just loves the fact that he got waxed in the SB by a team formerly known as the Yucks, by his old coach, whom he bad mouthed the previous year....good job buddy!!! you picked a winner!!!

the heisman is a joke...

They might have just shown his career stats, but come on, the kid rushed for 2,100+ yards his senior year, and 27 TDs on the ground!

I think most Heisman voters that year probably realized that if they gave the award to Michael Bishop, he'd have to give an acceptance speech and the first time he used a sentence with more than 3 words, his head would've exploded.

Joe Montana never would've won a Super Bowl without his defense.

John Elway never would've won a Super Bowl with Terrell Davis/that offensive line or his defense.

Brett Favre never would've won a Super Bowl without Reggie White.

Troy Aikman never would've won a Super Bowl without his defense.

Put down the haterade.
The non -mentioned Dan Marino, who threw in his career 60, 000 yards never had a defense.

Yep, the team lost Leonard Little and Terry Fair, and had guys like Al Wilson and Dwayne Goodrich step up their game to compensate. Happens all the time.

Your point about the SB appearance is what? How big of a part did he have in that SB appearance? He's just a freaking corner. Deion Sanders, probably the best corner in this era, didn't go to the SB with the Falcons.

I guess the point is, Tom Brady, without his D, would not make it to the Super Bowls. He is a good clutch QB, I will give you that. But he is no John Elway, Marino, or Brett Favre.

You're right . . . Brady has 3 Super Bowl rings by himself and those guys have 3 rings combined. :focus:

:D I know . . . I just couldn't resist.

Elway and Marino are both better, but you can't discount Brady's success.

I don't really discount his success, I am just saying he gets too much credit. He's got a damn good defense, too. Elway didn't win one until he got a running game and a defense. Marino never had the benefit of a running game or defense, at least at the same time.

Oh well, we could go in circles forever. :p

I will say that I think Favre has been overrated for the last 5 years or so. I've never seen a QB get such a pass on making bad throws. He's got a great arm, but his decision making is horrible.
