Why do you like....?

Smoke.

Honestly it started because of the orange home depot car. (for obvious reasons) I also had a buddy that hated Jeff Gordon and one of the first races I watched was the one that Tony about took his head off after the race. (I think it was a Martinsville race) I used to say my driver can beat up you driver.

Wow. Both of the first two stories are a combination of mine. I started pulling for Mark Martin because I really liked that red, white and blue Valvoline car. Then I became a fan of the driver more than the car and sponsor (obviously, since I powered through the Viagra years and all the jokes that came with it). I still pull for Mark mostly, but since his career is winding down I started cheering for Carl Edwards from the same Roush stable. I like Carl because he is a great driver and is great with the fans.

Thats dead on with me, except I pulled for Mark because of Ford, and he is such a nice dude. I loved that Valvoline paint scheme he ran for the first brickyard. the one where the paint from the V wrapped around the side of the car. Man that car was sweet. I loved the Viagra paint scheme as well, just didnt like the actual sponser.

Kyle Busch, mostly because everyone hates him & I loved when he was being a smart ass to the fans. No matter what anyone wants to say the kid can drive & he is one of the most talented drivers in the series. You can put him & Tony in about anything & they will win.

I also like Bayne b/c he is from Knoxville & he is the hometown kid, he has alot of potential.

Yes the kid can drive! Very good racer, and I will never like him because of him smashing the guitar/trophy here in Nashville. I also dont like him because of his smart ass mouth, and temper, which is weird cause he is alot like me, and I don't hate myself. (more fuel for you to like him I suppose)

Thanks for all of the people who contributed to this thread. Was alot of fun reading through them all.

Mark Martin for me. He came on strong back in the very late 80's and early 90's at a time when my previous favorite driver, Bobby Allison had to give it up. I still love the thought of that old red, white, and blue Valvoline car. In my biased opinion, Mark Martin is the greatest driver to never win the Cup, and there isn't really a close second when you consider how good that team was back in the 90's.

Jimmie Johnson - I worked at Lowe's when he was first coming up. I was previously a NASCAR fan, Rusty Wallace and Ernie Irvin fan in particular, but both retired. I stopped watching it a few years and then started again when I worked at Lowe's. I figured what the heck I would support the rookie and see how he does. I worked there for a few more years but I have remained a Johnson fan since then.

I found myself stimulated by the Viagra car, and soon became a hardened fan. I particularly liked the thrusts in and out of the holes in traffic Mark was able to perform. I was disappointed whenever he had to pull out for new rubber. I was left spent by the climatic finishes.
