Why does Aaron Murray get so much respect?

He threw for over 3000 yards last season with 24tds and 8ints. He had a pretty good year last year and "should" be one of the better QB's in the SEC this year.

3050 yard passing
61% comp
24TD/8INT
167 rush yards

That was with virtually no running game and as a freshman. Not bad IMO

I hate UGA, but you can watch their games last year and see that the kid is special. It's not like he just threw jump balls up to AJ all last year.

He was a RS freshmen btw...He is a Junior by age this year. He had AJ Green and now AJ is gone. So he threw for 234.6 yds a game? He had one 300 plus game in a loss. He had 3 ints that game. He has flashed no greatness. I mean this is JMO, but I guess I feel some people did not watch any of his games. No AJ will be huge.

He threw for under 200 yards a game without AJ. And that was against some of his weaker opponents.

He averaged more than 200 yards a game without AJ. He threw for under 200 twice to begin the season where they were breaking him in (and the first one was just because they were blowing the other team out, the second one due to being his first SEC game).

It's a combination of:
1. He's a very good quarterback
2. He's a 3rd year sophomore
3. He's got a good pro-style offense

It's one thing to hate a team, it's another thing to be blinded by your hate for a team that you discredit a really good player.

Anyone have stats comparing Murray and Bray's first 4 games starting in college? Not trying to say Bray is better, just to see if the Murray talk is deserving.

Pointless stat is pointless.

Bray played Memphis, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky.

Murray played LaFayette, South Carolina, Arkansas, and Mississippi State.

So anyway, Murray record was 1-3 Bray went 4-0 had more yardage and TD's. IMO at this point Murray is not special and will have to do something this year to separate himself.

Really? I would have never guessed you'd take the angle of "well this guy played these people and beat them, but this other guy played different people and lost to them, so therefore one of them is better than the other because they played differently against separate competition"
Solid reasoning.

I think Bray will be better in the long run.

I understand thats your opinion, just what makes you think Bray will be better? DMoe, and Justin Hunter made Bray look awful good. I think from a talent standpoint, Murray has a much better skill set. The biggest question with Murray will be coaching, that I give the edge to Bray.

I'm not a talent scout so TIFWIW, but there's not a big difference in their skill sets IYAM.

AM had a good season considering the fact he had no help in the running game and he was without AJ Green for the first four games. I'm not going to sit here and say he isn't talented because that isn't true. But at the same time, for all his positives on the field, the team still went 6-7. This season will be a much bigger test because he's going to have less of a WR corps to throw to and Crowell will be a freshman RB running behind a suspect O-Line. But all in all AM is a pretty decent QB as much as I hate to acknowledge it.

I have to disagree with this. When it came to escaping the pocket and making plays with his legs, AM did a pretty decent job. Tyler Bray doesn't seem nearly as athletic, but he is a better pure passer. JMO
