Why does LSU automatically get so many night games?

At least we're responsible for Miles' only night game loss.

I wish we would schedule more night games. 12:30 kickoffs suck.

Exactly. But then you see all the old farts on here complaining about having to drive home after night games. Maybe when I'm old and grouchy I'll see it the other way, but for now the atmosphere of a Saturday night game is entirely worth it.

That's true and as LW pointed out it adds a little pepper the gumbo down there at tiger stadium lol.

I read a story once that back in the 30's a circus came to Baton Rouge and the big show was on Saturday and governor Huey P. Long shut the circus down because the Tigers were playing that same day!! He also wrote one of the LSU fight songs as well.

Another one of his endless narcissitic, sociopathic habits was to walk down to the sideline to tell the coach what play to call. Kind of like Al Davis, only he was the governor and then senator, at one point simultaneously. He also designed a play he expected the coach to run several times a game.

“Part of the lore of Tiger Stadium is the tradition of playing games at night, an idea that was introduced in 1931 against Spring Hill (a 35-0 LSU victory). In 2006, LSU celebrated its 75th year of playing night football in Tiger Stadium. Since that first night game in 1931, LSU has played the majority of its games at night and the Tigers have fared much better under the lights than during the day. Since 1960, LSU is 215-60-4 (.778) at night in Tiger Stadium compared to a 21-26-3 (.450) record during the day over that span. Since 2000, LSU is 51-5 in night games and head coach Les Miles is 24-1 in night games in Death Valley. CBSSports.com’s Dennis Dodd wrote in Oct. 2009 of LSU’s fabled night history,

‘It has turned the knees of All-Americans to goo. It has caused coaches to lose their coaching minds. It only happens at a special space at a special time. LSU can be up, LSU can be down, but LSU’s best weapon remains … sunset’” (Tiger Stadium (92,400) - LSUsports.net - The Official Web Site of LSU Tigers Athletics ).

The infamous "Ainge Meltdown" game is his only night loss...

When you're in the state we are currently in, you are pretty much at the mercy of CBS and the SEC Network. UT/Cincy will likely be an early afternoon game on the 10th because Bama and Penn State play the same day and that game will likely be a night game. Once we start winning 9-10 games on a regular basis again, the lights in Neyland will get more use.

Lol the "king fish" was something else. I didn't know it but the movie all the kings men was based on him.

His brother Earl K. Long loved the ladies!!

there's a much older tradition of UA v PSU than UT v Cincy. More people will watch UA/PSU than us therefore its why they'd be dumb not to put it on prime time.

I agree with you but PSU being a mediocre team is the only reason they wouldn't get the primetime slot.

Bama, barring a complete disaster at QB, will rape them in Happy Valley.

LSU is a fun place. I love the fact that they sell jumbalaya at the stadium.

If you have never been to Tiger Stadium for a night game, you are missing what might be the best venue in college sports
