Ok. I'm just throwing this out there. But I have to ask:

Why is VolNation melting down?

Team 118 is in practice mode. Why do so many people have to come on here and have borderline mental breakdowns because a QB overthrew/underthrew some passes?

Oh, because the coaching staff said some borderline disparaging things about individual performances in practice?

Anyone who has been through basic military training understands that -nothing- you do is right. Wonder why? That's because you don't want people to focus on the things they are good at.

Why not, you say?

People have a tendency to want to please instead of focusing on mistakes. When you highlight mistakes it takes the focus off of already established skills and pulls the focus to undeveloped skills.

You want to give praise for established skills at a minimum while giving critism to unestablished at a maximum. This keeps individuals from looking for praise for developed skills to them looking for praise in the areas they are deficient in.

Also you don't want the enemy to know and be able to study your established skills to be able to defeat them.

I have enjoyed following spring and fall practice as a fan. But I am more than willing to give up some practice reports to keep our gameplan from our opponents.

Again, this is just my opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

The only sufficient response to this "question" is Forest Gump's response to his principal:

"EEEE EEEE EEEE EEEE EEEE EEEE EEEE EEEE EEEE EEEE EEEE EEEE EEEE EEEE EEEE EEEe EEee Eeee eee ee e....."

Because we don't have nothing else to do....Let's hope the real meltdown doesn't happen when the season starts!

Right now it is because they haven't named a starting QB and, by extension, the fan base believes we don't have a QB on the roster who could play in the OVC after a week of fall practice.

Naming a QB would mean that "Team [insert your favorite for #2]" will be saying their man should be in, but that is fairly standard for every football team in NCAA.

If Butch wins six games, he doesn't have to answer to anyone. But I think this has gone on too long when you have a Sr QB who was clearly the best of the bunch last year especially on game day.

If it didn't happen.. what would be the point of this website?

We have people who have meltdowns over how many dropped balls we have in a practice.

We have people who verbally assault other posters because they think we might win 2 or 3 more games then them.

We have people who would insist Butch was the second coming of christ even if he had reds skin, horns and a pitch fork.

We have people who would insist the jury is still out on his coaching ability right after we beat Bama, UF and UGA at the same exact time, with an average margin of victory of 16 points.

My point about all of this being, this website is such a melting pot of crazy. And every single poster here swears that it is everyone else that is the problem.

And the closer the season gets to starting, the worse it gets.

Thanks for bringing up the military example.

Crawl. Walk. Run. That was the simple training concept the army adopted years ago.

In the crawl stage, the drill sergeant smothers the trainees... nothing is ever good enough... even if it is perfect. It always has to be re-done. The trainers' goal is to tear the soldier down.

In the walk phase, the trainee starts to get re-built into a soldier. Execution of the basic things becomes automatic.

Run phase. Trainee is not a soldier that has mastered the basics and is beginning to expand on them.

Since CFB teams are new every fall there will always be an element of this type of training in August.
