I just saw a stat on ESPN that said Vandy has made more FT's than 10 other SEC teams have attempted.
They also said Ogilvy and Taylor have each shot more individual FT's this year than Bama or LSU have as a team... WTF is up with that?
Ogilvy is no low-post banger, and Taylor is a guard that shoots lots of J's. How has Vandy become the Florida/Bama of SEC basketball? Is it because they had to include another team with UK as 'league favorites' and UT was out of the question?
The announcers, of course, talk about how great that stat is without questioning how a team with Vandy's 3-point shot style could be getting to the line like that.
Also, to any of you saying SEC officiating is normal, put that on your bike and smoke it.

Taylor isn't a guard. Vandy isn't the athletic powerhouse being described by # 2 either.

It's the most athletic team Vandy has ever had. Walker and Taylor can jump out of the gym as well as shoot from the floor and charity stripe which is rare. As far as the OP, just watch a Vandy game. The ball gets in the lane continually.

It's not any more athletic than the team with Charlie D and Tommy Springer.

Taylor and Walker are good athletes, but not what you're making them out to be. Officiating is a part of their game. Stallings' sorry ass just said as much in his halftime whining. I've never heard a coach whie like that to a halftime sideline reporter. He actually said they expect to get to the line more.

Point is, his game is not the kind that should get more trips to the line than entire SEC teams, even bad ones. And Ogilvy is even worse. He is the softest decent big man I've ever seen, no question. Yet he gets even more FT attempts. Both of these guys shoot lots of jump shots, right?
If it was Wall or somebody, I'd understand, because he actually is athletic, and because physical players get calls... but Ogilvy?!?

Also, I agree, this is the most athletic Vandy team I've ever seen. However, Vandy has never been known for having lots of athletes in any sport.

You must be watching a different game.. Florida is getting all the calls..

Vanderbilt is just smart, they know how to get to the line. They are second in the conference in made Free throws, but have barely gotten the calls tonight check the stats.

Just stop it already. Vanderbilt is very athletic, can shoot, can run, can pass, have high basketball IQ's, play as a team, and get the ball around the dish. All that equals alot of free throws

Wow...youve got a serious man crush with vandy. That might have been how they looked playing us but every other game theyve pretty much relied on the jump shot. I agree...with the original post. It is quite odd how often they go to the line.

It's about time Vandy gets some zebra love, they have been screwed by officials (mostly in football), more than any other team in the SEC.

Vandy's football issues should certainly be laid at the feet of officiating.

Jenkins grew up a Vandy fan and actually values academics. Pearl had no chance.

Oh. Valuing academics is a Vandy thing. Who knew?

Is this going to be another of those commonly known things that I've been in the dark about, like the renowned intelligence of KY fans?

I was having this very thought. Although, I will say Vandy does seem to get the calls at home. Regardless, I think they are a good team, and based on the latest polls, a little underrated, IMO...

Look, I don't know you so i won't resort to name calling BUT having grown up in Nashville I have had many friends who were Vandy fans, including my best man in my wedding. Having said that i can tell you without a doubt that your comments are EXACTLY the kind of comments i would hear a die-hard Vandy fan say. I have been to waaay too many games in that gym and seen Vandy get waaaay too many calls with teams waaaay less athletic than the current one. This has been and always will be the case. Don't know why, just sayin' Oh, and your comments are a little too Vandy friendly for my taste. Just sayin....

There is no doubt he's a Vandy entitlement douchebag. Why would anyone think any differently. His unwillingness to state just makes him a Pansy, to be kind.

A team that gets to the line and makes their FTs have a great chance of winning against more athletic teams who can't make FT's. Making FTs are not sexy or highlight film material, but they can make a big difference in winning and losing. The best solutions is to get your athletes to learn to shoot them. This is a huge weakness for the Vols.

I don't think this is the case....Vandy does a great job at drawing contact and getting to the line.
