Yep, because only a moron AD would not have a strict buyout clause for a guy like Gruden. If he did come, I wouldnt expect him to stay more than 4-5 years max. But we got burned to bad on the Kiffin deal to fall for that one again.

Why is anyone worried that Gruden will go to the NFL down the road? As I understand it he likely has his choice of at least either the Browns or the Eagles right now.
And so what if he does bolt after 4 years - which I would hope not - but lets say he does. The big selling point with me is that right now at this time we need our program to be able to compete with the very very best on the recruiting trail. We need that now. I guess I could be wrong but right now I think he becomes a magnet for recruiting in the short term at least and we get some talent such that CP type play makers fill our roster on both sides of the ball.
I think we can worry about 4 years from now....4 years from now.
other than winning a Super Bowl with Tony Dungy's players, why do so many people think Gruden is such a spectacular coach?
I know that success in the NFL is no guarantee of success in the college game, and vice-versa, however, there is a pretty strong track record of successful college coaches staying successful wherever they move within the college ranks.
15 over 500 is good in the NFL. He would be a rock star at Tennessee. He would recruit like Saban, by selling the NFL.
This question gets asked daily... do some research.
Name me some other coaches that had a hand in getting 2 teams to the Super Bowl in the same year. Gruden took the Raiders to the AFC championship game in 2000 and lost to the Super Bowl winning Ravens. Lost in the game in 2001 to the Pats on the famous "tuck rule". Next year he took the Bucs to the Super Bowl and beat his Raiders team.
