Why has someone not put this out there?

I don't get tearing down our own goal post. I get fans rushing the field and all, but taking the goal post to the Tn River ...shows.....? To me it only highlights how broken our program has been for so long. The old Bum Phillips saying " act like you been here before" comes to mind

I’m not sure why Hooker didn’t smoke his cigar but I NEVER have and never will after a UT- ala game simply because Alabama’s trainer Jim Goosetree started the tradition when Bryant got there. To hell with anything that gutter scum school does.

I am not critical of your post but I always find it amusing to see post about other states/schools being inbred or sleeping with their cousin etc. while in Tennessee IT IS legal to bed/wed your first cousin.
Wait… that’s weird?

Let the fans enjoy it; they've earned it suffering for so long with a sorry azz program we've had.

Bill sure wasn't to choosy about what it put it in. Blech.

Anyway, I do recall tearing the other team's goal posts down on a certain occasion, which would make more sense, but I guess it's pretty impolite.
Well, look at the choice he had at home. Nuf said.

Weird. Not pay-to-read for me. I see it just fine with no paywall at all. And I'm not using a VPN or any kind of IP mask. Odd.

Oh wait. You didn't say please.

Anyway, it is too long an article to cut & paste in its entirety. I'll include just one snippet to show how it was kinda fun:
I got hit with a paywall also. Would you please post an archive link that doesn’t have a paywall? /s

Thanks for that snippet you posted. Rutgers fan base was wild. Now I'm dying to know if they've ever torn down the posts for a Schiano lead team.

Should we really follow the advice from a grown man who goes by Bum?
I just think a school can show excitement and celebrate a win without having to destroy it's own equipment. If destroying the goal post shows_____________? then why stop there ? Why not tear down the concession stands and a few bleachers? It's almost on the level of soccer hooligans. So now we've dunked those goal post in the river.... guess we showed them ?

I would just have to carry an unlit one around. I also prefer we just know it as "The Third Saturday in October" or the TTSO Bowl if you really want to brand it a bowl.
This. It is the Third Saturday in October. Always has been for me and always has been for my children.

Ain't nothing wrong with taking down the goal posts, it's not like this is the first time this has ever happened at any school. Let the kids have some fun.

Most of those young people that tore down the posts “haven’t” been here before!

Exactly. The last time the tradition happened I was 12. Everyone under the age of 24 either wasn’t born, or are too young to remember it. Let them enjoy it. It’s only being criticized by butthurt Bammers. It’s one of the traditions that make college football so great.
