Why is everyone so high on Vanderbilt's QB?

Dude is straight up suing the NCAA right now. I like this kid.
Looks like with NIL, players want to make college their football career then call it done. Trying to get as many paid years attached to the University as possible. Probably time to just call football (and basketball) players employees doing tasks for the university and forget about them being students that go to class. Let them work for the university and get paid as long as it's mutually beneficial, like any other employer/employee relationship.

Sure, but like other pro leagues you'll need to get a draft system instead of recruiting to have parity, salary caps and revenue sharing contracts via a player's union, free agency limits, etc, etc.

Does that seem like the business a university should be involved in?

I do too and I also don’t hate Clark Lea. As a lifelong Franklin / Nashville resident I despise Vandy so it’s a little rough for me this year when I have realized that I’m actually pulling for them occasionally.

Pavia can carry his team on his shoulders.
Vandy is 1-8 this season without Pavia.

They would still beat Alcorn St., but they lose the Ball St game.
He has 'IT'; leadership, can improvise, and his teammates believe he will help them find a way to win. If he wins his case vs. NCAA, players will come to Vandy to play on his team.

My FIL was a big Vandy fan and she is really enjoying thinking of her father during the Vandy games this season. Their season has made her very happy for her father, and Vandy is just a very fun team to watch this season.

Pavia suing the NCAA is the next logical step for "college" football.

Diego Pavia knows he's not an NFL caliber QB but he could play several years at the "college" level and there's little hope the NCAA can win a lawsuit to enforce an eligibility limit or classroom attendance without contracts for players.

Once Pavia wins, what's to keep an "aging" or "marginal" NFL running back from returning to or staying at "college" to be a star or someone who is decent bball player like Fulkerson choosing to stay at UT instead of heading to Europe.

A pro is a pro is a pro if you're hiring talent.

Well, the university is already deep in the business of football and basketball in a manner not consistent with a "learning institution". I don't know. Just let it be a big free for all for a few years and see how it goes before trying to create parity through drafts, salary caps, trades, etc.

That's not really up to the schools with the players being declared employees. They unionize and you'll have to collective bargain by law, which means salary caps or you end up with massive payrolls at a few schools.

Then come the lawsuits to pay ALL "student athletes," not just the revenue sports and the universities are forced to drop sports or pay the players. Or would you insist a women's volleyball player isn't as much of an athlete representing the school as a women's basketball player?

What's gotten the NCAA to this point is refusing to deal with all the issues that were coming. Leaving it as a free for all, Wild West situation is a recipe for not being able to control the changes as we are seeing now.

He’s gutsy player that can make some plays and has made Vandy much better. Though to act like he’s some elite QB or Johnny manziel comparison are a little bit overblown.

He's like Tee Martin. His stats might not set the world on fire, but he makes big plays when you need them more often than not.
