Why is it, you get the chills, hair stands up on your back, whenever you're at Neyland and the Vols run through the "T"?

Its overrated.

Honestly.

I get more joy out of singing Friends In Low Places before the 4th quarter.

This! Takes me back to first game with my dad in 1966 at age 10. Dadā€™s been gone since 2000 but watching the run through the ā€œTā€ always reminds me of great times with him.
You and I are the same age. I saw my first game at 10 or 11 with my dad too. Heā€™s been gone since 2011. A 1950 UT grad thanks to the GI Bill

I associate it with my college days at UT, my family, and being a Tennesseean with deep roots in the state, and itā€™s like we all join together as one group, and itā€™s like we are going to climb a mountain or something šŸ˜‚ doesnā€™t get any better than that

I took my husband, a Texas Longhorn, to his first game in Neyland in 2002 when we played Ken Dorsey led Miami. It was a great game for the first 4 minutes lol. Even though we lost, he was so impressed with the whole Neyland experience. I had told him there was nothing like it. He agreed. To this day, when anyone talks about college football, he will say, you have to go to a Tennessee game, best college football experience in the country. Iā€™ve converted him!!

PS (As we get ready to watch the Red River Shootout, have to admit, itā€™s a lot of fun with the State Fair at the Cotton Bowl, but itā€™s the wrong Orangeā€¦..)

I get that way just hearing the band playing Rocky Top
while marching toward the stadium. This 70 year old
military vet gets ā€œ misty eyed ā€œ.
Amen! Ain't nothing, and I mean nothing, like watching Tennessee Football, the opening of that T, and listening to the POTSB on TV, in person, or when you're on the other side of the world. Wherever you watch from or listen to, it brings a Tennessean back home.

Itā€™s special in its own right but for me itā€™s an injection of nostalgia and makes you think of people you shared games withā€¦some that arenā€™t around anymore to see it live

I've said it before, but I've never heard a crowd anywhere as loud as the '82 Bama game when the Vols warmed up in the traditional orange/white, then ran through the Power T in orange/orange. You couldn't even hear the band, and that stadium literally shook. I'm not saying that's what did it, but there had to be some inspiration that led to the amazing win that day.

If you think it gives the ones who have only watched it from the stands, imagine how it makes someone who was PART of the T a little over 40 years ago!šŸ˜ƒ

Dad was also a vet but never made it to college. Went into coal mines in Appalachia VA at the age of 16 to help take care of his parents. Learned electronics in the army which helped him escape the coal mines. Retired after a long career at Raytheon in Bristol. A great dad who taught me the benefits of hard work and handed down a true love of sports, the outdoors and especially a love for the Vols!

I cant speak for others but for me it just symbolizes everything that comes with being a proud born and bred Tennessean. I know we can't see the "Give my All" sign but it's something about knowing that everyone that comes out of that tunnel is intent to put it all on the line not just for their family or themselves but for the State as a whole.
