Why is Jalin Hyatt not in consideration for the Heisman???

For Heisman purposes though what'll matter is HH's individual stats relative to other players like Stroud, not Tennessee's offensive output overall.
Absolutely correct sir. Hooker IS our offensive production, save rushing TDs. Hooker leads Stroud in all categories except touchdowns. I think HH is in a very good spot, but there are many obstacles in his way. I think anti-SEC bias and the sports industry's infatuation with OSU may be harder to overcome than the play on the field.

Bc it's pretty much a QB award unless you put up something crazy like 100+ rec, 1800+ rec yards, and 24 total TDs like DeVonta Smith did or 2200 rush yards with 28 TDs like Derrick Henry did.

If the winner is still a biased political type award based on who ESPN thinks should win it, the O. State qb is the front runner.

It is important to distinguish against Top 25 competition though as well.

Stroud will finish with more TD passes than HH but he needs to be at a significant advantage to overtake HH due to the weakness of OSU's schedule
I don't disagree, but a large number of Heisman voters will not do that.

FWIW, Stroud and HH's efficiency numbers are extremely comparable. HH is actually slightly better in Y/A (10.8 vs. 10.6). Stroud's biggest advantages in the voting are 1) he's going to have more total TDs than HH and 2) he was identified as a favorite for the award before the season started. Not saying those are good reasons to be advantaged, but it is what it is.

An SEC player has won 7 out of the last 13 Heisman Trophies (from 4 different schools), and ESPN has a direct financial stake in the success of the SEC, so I don't agree with an anti-SEC bias. The sports media is no doubt infatuated with Ohio St, but they are also infatuated with the SEC.

The issue with the Heisman is that with few exceptions, the winner fits a certain "profile." HH actually does meet some of the criteria of that profile (QB or RB at a big program, putting up great stats, and that team is in the national title conversation). However, when the stats are comparable, they defer to the guy who was identified before the season started as a serious contender. The Heisman has always been a popularity contest, but when numbers are comparable, it really becomes a popularity contest. That gives Stroud a huge advantage because HH has kind of come out of nowhere to contend for it, while Stroud was the preseason favorite.

In order for HH to overcome that, his numbers are going to need to be way in excess of Stroud's, not merely comparable to them.

ESPN has a direct financial stake in the success of the SEC as a conference. ESPN certainly has biases, but being anti-SEC I don't think is one of them.

That argument made much more sense in 1997 than it does today. The financial center of gravity of CFB has changed a lot since then.

HH will win if we beat Georgia. Guaranteed. T
He controls his own destiny. If that happens there is no way they deny Hooker.
We don't want to admit it,but Peyton would own a Heisman if he had beaten Florida. Period. Woodson was amazing and undefeated.
The older I get the more I have to be honest and admit that it was perfectly fair that Woodson won.
Give me 3 very good reasons why it HAD to be Peyton.

And also, every other post complains that Stroud will win because he was "the front runner" in the beginning. Then say that Peyton was screwed even though Peyton was the frontrunner from the time the previous season ended.
Maybe we should turn down the obvious bias a little and look at these things unbiased and honestly. You all know I'm right, it's OK to be honest and admit we are all salty about Peyton not getting the award. He won every other award possible. He should have best Florida. It's on him, not Woodson.

Barring any other losses, If HH were to beat GA, he would separate himself from Stroud and will be the run away winner. Even if Stroud has a few more pass TDs. HH would have lead his team to an undefeated regular season with upsets of Bama and Georgia. That's two Heisman moments vs Stroud's 0. HH would not only be the best player on the best team, but also be the player that means the most to his team. Stroud's schedule doesn't allow for him to have a Heisman moment unless they get down to Michigan and he leads them to a comeback or something. Which probably won't happen.
