Why is SEC recruiting so much more intense than other conferences?

Because there is this whole thing in the lil 10 as to what we consider normal as being cutthroat! In my opinion this is wh the south is so strong. Other conferences don't take football as serious as the sec.

Highschool football is better in the south so there is more to pick from. Also a lot of good players in the north are tired of cold winters so they go south where the weather is nicer and the competition is better

Georgia, Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi and now the addition of Texas, high school football within the conference is top in the country, not to mention the SEC won the last 7 NCS.

You answered your own question in the South football is life or death to most of us, when I was in my 20s I lost jobs over a loss, got in a few fights lost a few friends over the years have not talked to one of my brothers in 23 years because he is a Vandy fan might not be right but thats the way it is, GOD first VOLS close second, Go VOLS fight to you die.

The other coaches don't see a "commitment" as a reason to stop calling.

Tennessee's talent is on the rise b/c of improved middle school programs, if your local HS has no MS program start one! Most state title contenders have good MS programs.

It is the pro sports of the south. North and Midwest are more occupied with actual professional sports from my experience.
