why is Worley so bad

How did this guy get a scholarship at Tennessee.
He is not improving.
Yes... He is.
How many think it is time to burn a red shirt, or does Jones know the freshmen quarterbacks are as bad as Worley?.
Worley is killing us!.

No... he isn't.

He will play through this stretch of tough games. Hopefully the WR's will improve enough and the protection will be good enough for Jones to get a real read on whether to continue with Worley or bring one of the Fr on like Dooley did 3 years ago with Bray.

One of the stupidest possible things Jones could do right now barring injury would be to pull a RS so one of the Fr could face UGA, USCe, and Bama in consecutive games.

Worley made a couple of bad decisions to be sure. His misses on the underneath routes are ugly and inexplicable. He also managed the offense well and made some of this best throws of the season. He hit a couple on 3rd and long. Except for the short routes, his throws weren't behind the receivers, late, or short. IOW's... MUCH different than the way he started the season.

I watched again... and still haven't seen a throw he made today off of his back foot. Again, MUCH improved.

He's not great but a lot of what goes wrong is because of poor play by young receivers... There are other players on the field besides him ..that have to do their job too
No sir. Worley isn't being criticized for dropped passes. He's being criticized for missing receivers...throwing behind receivers, even when they make the catch, half of them are off-target.

When he steps into his throws, he seems to throw better, but he only does that a small percentage of the time

His footwork and mechanics are horrible. Andre Ware pointed it out several times during the game. Who is in charge of developing the Qb's, Bajakian?

The fact that CBJ won't put in a freshman tells me he is not interested in preparing for the future and is putting out a bad squad instead of a potentially worse squad.

It is year 0 without CBJ saying it. And it pains me to say that but I think we kind of understand this coming into this season.

Survive the year and start trying to get better next year. Apparently.
Not sure what you mean that Coach Jones is not interested in preparing for the future. He is in a bad situation. Play a freshman QB, burn a reshirt and pretty much guarentee no bowl game or play Worley and try to get 3 wins. I vote try to get 3 wins with Worley but I will probably change my mind "again" when he plays another horirble game. GO VOLS

One word Confidence. When Bray ws injured, Worley was thrown into the fire with almost little experience. The same thing would happen to Ferguson and/or Dobbs if they had to be thrown into a similar situation. LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED TO PETERMAN.

After the Peterman debacle, Jones seems committed to continuing on with Worley. One of the risks is that SCAR, while clearly a better team, tends to be vulnerable in Neyland. A better QB could spark this team... or a freshman QB could turn into another Peterman. If Worley continues to show no upside, even a small chance to upset SCAR in Neyland could be worth burning a redshirt and seeing what we have...

No, but when you make that many mistakes, it is obvious. Crompton played against a better LSU defense in 2006 in his first significant action and played better. That's the point. I didn't expect him to be perfect, but my god, that's worse than anything else this year.

Crompton- His faults were not for a lack of physical talent. When he didn't have the expectations weighing on him, he played well. Worley doesn't have anywhere near the physical tools to succeed that Jon had. He's just not. Very. Good.

Worley I am sure is a great young man. I appreciate that he dons the orange uniform and does give his all for UT. More than most of us ever have done . For this I am thankful. This being said- I have not seen consistent arm strength or accuracy from him.
I don't know if it's pressure, or lack of that next tier ability that it takes to compete in the SEC, but either way it's simply not there. I hate to say it but this year is a rebuilding year and we need to get some of the freshman some game time experience and some route running time to synch with the wr's to get the system better prepared for next season. To protect their confidence, I hate to throw them in against the competition for the next few weeks except for mop up duty, but after this they need a greater role in preperation for next year. Good luck boys! Go vols!

Worley's play is indeed suspect, but in his defense, S.Alabama sure did get a push on our vaulted OLine.
S.Alabama was all over Worley pushing our linemen back into the pocket on many plays.

The moral of the team is greatly impacted by the play of the QB. If the team has any doubt about the QBs ability and the QB makes a critical mistake watch the teams moral sink.

won't argue that Worley's had a really rough start and he may never be able to be good SEC QB, but in his defense, I was alarmed at how our Oline was pushed around and back by S. Alabama.....Worley had very little time to do anything on many plays....yes, it appears that our Oline may indeed be over rated
