Lame-duck Kentucky coach Joker Phillips will be coaching his last game, why wasn't Dooley given the same respect or option?

He probably chose not to be serenaded by 50,000 booing Vols fans.

There is no bowl game...Dooley's team quit on him last night....there really is no reason for him to continue. You can tell the guy has been mentally taxed.

He probably heard the fans weren't gonna show for the game if he was still coaching in it. We fans really need to show up to show support to the players and out going seniors.

Yeah, he was given the option but chose not to. I honestly don't know if that was a respectful decision or not. I mean, on one hand he knows the fans hate him but on the other, it's your team man. And senior night on top of that. I'm sure he gave them a proper farewell though. Maybe he thought the team would get more support from the fans without his presence.

I read that he was given the option but declined

I read that too. How can you decline your last game and still get the buy out? Ummm...no thanks to the work offer but I'll gladly take the money. I'm SO glad he's gone.

Because Hart does not want a repeat of last year. St this point I would say most of our coaching staff, including Chaney are lame ducks

His last game was all the reason anyone needed to give him a lifetime ban from the home sideline of Shields-Watkins Field.

I imagine that he and the rest of the team have known this was coming for a number of weeks. He is probably ready to move on, just like the rest of us

The real question should be why would he be allowed to coach the game? It would just be nasty. His entire tenure will be looked on as nothing but a colossal failure. Yes, he came into a horrible situation but he did not improve on the field. His teams were making the same boneheaded mistakes at the end of the season every year that they were at the beginning of the season. His teams never improved and quit on him at the end of the season for the 2nd straight year.
