Why isn't Vescovi shooting?

I have watched carefully because of this question. Vescovi must catch and shoot to get up a 3 unless he is wide open. If he fails to shoot immediately he no longer has the option. It looks like instead of shooting he is faking and driving, playing the 2 man game with Aidoo or Awaka. Its my personal opinion that this is Barnes solution to the early cold shooting that has been this teams Achilles heal the last 3 years. It looks like it's working as Aidoo-Awaka combo is averaging a double double. I think Barnes would like to go inside early for 70% shots instead of shooting all the 3's and hoping you are hot.
I do think Vescovi should only shoot the catch and shoot 3's, which he does pass up sometimes. He is very good at catch and shoot.

I think the point yall are missing is that we have a guy that averaged over 12 pts the last 2 seasons and have relegated him to being the guy that does all the dirty work that doesn't show up on the stat sheet. Literally our best shooter from the last couple of seasons is not shooting the ball and yall are just ok with that because we are winning ball games due to one guy having an all time great performance in TN history. This crap will catch up to us because relying on one guy to make up production for 2 ppl( I'm including JJJ) every night is stupid.
I have coached bb players. Did it for a couple of years. Frankly, I was not that great a coach.
I also admit that I have never meet Santi in person. However, I have listened to most, if not all of his interviews and pressers.
You have some very clear thoughts on SV's offensive stats and play, BUT you don't appear to know Vescovi at all !!!
Let me introduce you to one of the smartest basketball minds at Tennessee: Santiago Vescovi was drawing up a play in the Alabama game and all the players were paying close attention to SV. Concentrating and locked in on what he was saying. AND head coach Rick Barnes and the assistant coaches were standing there watching him do it!!!!
Why? Well, it's because he has the highest bb IQ on the team. And what the smartest player on the team has decided ... is that playing this role ... is what's best for the team. Heard Rick Barnes say something to this effect ... Santi came up to me and said this is something we should do in our upcoming game. Rick Barnes agreed and they put it in the game plan.
There just might be a little something else ... So, you should wait for the other shoe to drop, ... before you climb any farther out on that limb.

Naw I'm just not like most of you homers that think everything is perfectly fine just because we are winning
Being mindlessly negative is just as lazy as being mindlessly positive, except it’s extra stupid when the team is winning. 5 pages and you haven’t made a single point other than “less points than last year, more points better derp”

Lol whole team involved? It's been the Knecht show for the majority of the season. That's why this team is better. We are just fortunate guys like Aidoo and Zeigler have taken on bigger roles. Again one of our best shooters on the team is now just a guy that gets others involved....
We're fortunate? Aidoo and Ziegler are players. They're supposed to be good. Hasn't got a damn thing to do with luck

I'm not mindlessly negative. I'm literally voicing my frustration about Vescovi not shooting the ball in a thread that's about Vescovi not shooting the ball...damn and I'm not even the person that started this conversation but clearly some ppl see the same thing I'm seeing

They have both stepped into bigger roles and are playing some of their best basketball. Yes we are fortunate considering others have not done the same.

I don't want to hear any of you guys question Barnes' decisions or Vescovi's lack of production on offense if we lose. Hold on to this same sentiment because I doubt you guys can.

This exactly. Sometimes the most valuable player on the team doesn’t necessarily have to have all the stats to be relevant. Last couple of years we needed his scoring and this year he has found his role as a total team supporter and has 100% bought into that concept and should be applauded. He’s one of a kind that don’t come along that often if ever for a particular team. He does so much more and when he scores it’s just an added addition and a valuable asset for the Vols. I for one will miss him next year regardless if we make a deep run in the tournament or not.
