I've watched the same group of players you have this year and my thoughts have always come back to the same thing. I look at other teams post players and their footwork is so much better than our girls. Glory Johnson should know by now that she can't play as reckless as she does and expect not to be called for her charges and wild play. Alysia Brewer is going to have to learn to go to go to her left and Kelly Cain is got to be develop a better shot. You might think I am getting on these girls and that is really not what this is about. I think the coaching of the inside players is sub par. Blame has to go to the coaches that are IMO not doing a very good job.

How does my post relate to the library? By the way, the shift keys are located next to the letter Z and the ? punctuation keys.
My mistake. Glad you found the key. It makes your posts much easier to read.

Not sure why you sent the PM calling me a bigot, but you are right. I am biased against narrow-minded people who delight in attacking people without reason.

You do understand that she is 2 years removed from back to back NC's with her "old method"???

Yeah and do you really know basketball like you think. The athletes that "Pat had on those teams were players who could defend and were able to create their own shots not like the slow ones who "Pat" is trying to place on this platform that really do not have the talent.

What really needs to happen is that Pat needs to move "Strick" to the wing so she could help more with the scoring and place Williams at the point. Take lazy and very very "soft" Cain out of the starting line-up and insert Johnson and Brewer for rebounding. Now she can place whom ever she wants in the final spot as long as they can produce.

You need help getting in out of the rain don't you?

a pretty crappy job over the last 12 years. Recruiting Parker was by far her best achievement in a decade--as she single-handledly won a couple of titles for UT. But overall Summitt has not put great teams on the floor over the last 12 years--not one team that's been anywhere close to the 1998 squad--and given her recruiting prowess, she should have. Her recruiting and talent evaluation has been mediocre overall for a while, and her old school philosophy--and 1970s offensive system--are long past their prime. UT fans would never acknowledge it, given her accomplishments, but PS is way past her prime as a coach. I respect her tons but that is obvious. She's becoming the Joe Paterno of women's basketball. He's still coaching, too--but pa. state has had very few good football teams over the last 20 years.

To-armchair

Since you want to look at the last 12 years, hey, let's just back it up to 14 years so I can pile it up a little. So, since 1996, the LV's have won 5 National Championships. I won't even go into the won/loss record or any other record because I don't know if that would interest you. If it does, you can look for yourself here-http://www.utladyvols.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/history-records.html

Using your time frame of the last 12 years, yes, the LV's have only won 3 National Championships. And, to make it worse?, have only won 2 National Championships since way back in 2007. Ancient history, I know. Do the LV's have some problems? Yes. Will Pat and the gang take care of those? Yes. Does this team of 3 freshman, 7 sophs and 3 juniors get much better next year? Yes. Do we have 3 freshman on medical that will contribute greatly next year? Yes. I would like to have a National Championship team every year. Anyone in their right mind would. Am I over these types of posts? Yes.

The program has slipped. You homers forget that Summitt almost NEVER signs anybody who's not ranked in the top 10 or 15 in the country--we're not talking Ball St. here. And yet over the last decade she hasn't come close to putting a team on the floor like her dynamic '98 team--or like the current Ct. squad? Why not?

When is the last time Summitt had a really good point guard? She had to pull Bobbitt out of the JC ranks because she had nobody, and while she played well and had skills, she wasn't great. Hornbuckle was a shooting guard who had to play PG because we didn't have a PG--just like now, we've got a shooting guard/small forward playing PG! Over the last 10-12 years, you'd be hard-pressed to name 4 really good offensive players at UT--and no, I wouldn't include Zolman among them. PS, Ms. Old School, keeps signs shooting guards who are "heady" but lack quickness--a MUST-have quality in a 2/3 position player. Unless she has a superstar like Parker, the offense typically sputters--look at this game against Baylor: a bunch of HS AA's playing for the orange, and we shoot 30 percent and look horrible on offense. With her recruiting prowess, Summitt should be putting a dynamic offense on the floor that can run and score: Instead, she's got this big, slow team and is still playing the style that served her well in the 1970s: throw it to a big girl in the low block and hope she scores. Well, Griner negated that approach and we had nothing to fall back on.

You need to study basketball before you comment.

Don't be upset because he is telling the truth. Oh I forgot he should have stated the Johnson should have been playing much more also. The thing that gets me is that Pat had all the tools to coast through the tournament but she continued to be stubborn and did not listen to her staff to play Williams and Johnson instead she thought those slow non-athletic girls Spani & Manning would carry them over as they did against the previous two lesser talented teams Austin Peay & Dayton. Again I guess you didn't read the letter to the editor either that was written a couple weeks ago calling out Pat about the way she uses certain athletes trying to promote them and make them All-stars at the expense of the better athlete and this has been happening for years. Now she is either going to have to play these girls or continue to loose like she did against Baylor!! And Pat stated to the media that the girls panic, come on coach Summitt I saw you panic and stop coaching!!

Griner needs to be tested for her sex identity. She plays like a man, runs like ?, talks like a man, and has manly mannerisms off the court....Could she be both?????Not unheard of.

Well, I don't know what to say. I can only guess at some responses as being from someone who is not a fan. And, that's not a problem. Everyone is a fan of different things and some are fans of nothing. Doesn't matter, the world still goes on. But, when an opinion is stated that something is failing and facts contradict that, you'd think that would be the end. A letter to the editor-Wow, it's falling apart now and I'll bet heads will roll in the program this week .

The sky is blue. No it isn't. Well, look and see. I don't have to I know it isn't.

Programs and people are deemed failures based on their records. Coaches are usually terminated/replaced based on egregious behavior or their records. Fortunately, the decision isn't left to us fans because many of our programs would have coaching changes each year. So, facts from 1998 through the end of this season.

Win/Loss record- 410-52-89%
SEC Champions-'98, '99, 2000 (co), '01, '02, '03, '04, '07, '08
SEC Tournament Champs-'98, '99, 2000, '05, '06, '08
SEC COY-2001, '03, '04, '07
NCAA COY-98, 2004
National Championships-1998, 2007, 2008

100 percent graduation rate for all Lady Vols who have completed their eligibility at Tennessee.

Now, I understand that the LV's haven't won a National Championship since April, 2008.

Other than that, what facts constitute the firing of the Head Coach or any member of the program?

No, it isn't unheard of at all. And, has happened in sports. That would be an issue to take up with Baylor University or the NCAA if it's a concern.

The point guard situation would not be a situation at all, if you let the team play to their strengths. Trying to make a pg out of strickland is crazy...and let Kamiko PLAY...u keep pulling her for every mistake she will never develop into the phenom I know she is capable of becoming. Shekinna is a natural scorer, with pg skills...but making her a POINT GUARD..is limiting her, just like Alexis, and next thing u know she can't buy a basket, because she is worried about distributing. I must admit, Brianna Bass is NO Shannon Bobbitt but she can play the point, long as she don't have to shoot. Alicia Manning knows her role well now...she understands how to contribute...rebound rebound rebound.
Every player has "mental" ways they must be handled...Glory Johnson is a player who when she first came to UT...was a BEAST..but when she began to get called for offensive fouls, she became less aggressive...and when she lost her shot, that she had been working in the off season on...confidence fell further...so put her in the game, if she fouls out, let her, but she will give u all she got, if u let her. Snatching her out does nothing for her. Lyssi on the other hand is a SCORING 4...PERIOD. Her step is slow on defense, but she is a more all around player than Kelly simply because she can handle the ball. Kelly is simply the anchor. All the defense should be set up to allow her to have even more blocks...Kamiko is our best guard to Center passer.....the girl is an assist machine...if they will hit their shots. Bjorklund should have screens set for her to straight shoot...she is the best 3pt shooter in the country..definitely in top 5.
I know this is long..but I'm on a roll now...lol.
Taber Spani should always have screen roll that leaves her near the free throw line for the jumper, of course she is a 3pt threat as well, but a back to the basket player not so much.
Conclusion...having Vicki Baugh back is the key. My starting 5...Kamiko, Bjorklund, Stricklen, Baugh, Cain. 2nd 5...sliding Stricklen over to pg...Spani, Manning, Johnson, & Brewer...Meighan Simmons may just take someone spot...I'm just sayin...but that's what I would put on the floor, and leave it that way, unless someone was not pulling their weight. I would practice with those teams...errythang....Dupree, & Gray should she return, can just give those players breathers, unless they are playing great. I want Gray to take her time anyway...she just help everyone to know that GOD IS REAL.

So nice of you to give free advice to the winningest b-ball coach in history with 15 SEC Champoionships, 14 tournament championships, and 8 Nat'l Championships under her belt. :shakehead:

Sorry but I'm going to trust that Pat knows what she's doing over all you arm chair coaches any day and twice on Sunday.

Oh, I'm sorry. I suppose the back to back NC teams in 07 and 08 were not laced with talent??

You really show your ignorance with this quote. Shannon Bobbitt is a HUUUUUGE reason we won back to back NC's. The make up of a great team is not with 5 superstars. You have to have role players. You have to have work horses. You have to have team leaders. It takes more than just throwing 5 star athletes on the court.
