In Casey's best season, he led the Vols to the brink of the SEC and National Championship. A last second loss to Georgia and 4th quarter collapse in the SECCG kept this team from going down in history with the same regard as the 1998 squad. It should be noted that Clausen's stats in the 2 losses were 51-of-83 (61.4%) for 627 yds, 5 TDs, and only 1 int.

In his most disappointing season, Casey was injured for most of the year, and ran his mouth to the press entirely too much. Instead of being a leader, he contributed to team cohesion problems.

Senior Season, 2003, 10-3 as starter
In his final season, Clausen tried to regain his from from 2001. However, back-to-back losses to Auburn and Georgia ended the Vols shot at a spot in the SECCG. Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida tied for the SEC East Division, but Georgia won the "NEW" tie-breaker system that was installed midseason. Although the Vols finished the regular season a respectable 10-2 and ranked #6, another loss in the Peach Bowl tarnished the season.
