Why The Concern?

Hadden played the recievers hands, when his went up so did Kamals. He broke up one pass that may have been completed had he turned and lost 1/2 step.
That is a good point. Basically, I was commenting that our DBs were not as bad as some are complaining they are. We only have up 104 total passing yards, which is why I was confused.

BVS is real and may take another year to subside for most.

There is a lot of hype surrounding Milton this year and there for most of the first half, it looked like it could be the 2021 Milton instead of the orange bowl Milton. I'm willing to bet a majority felt that way for some part of the game yesterday.

Virginia is a pretty bad team and while we humiliated them, and it was the first game, we left a lot of points off the board too.

Verdict is still out for me, but we'll know what we got here in a couple weeks either way.
What will it take to reach a verdict when it comes to Joe Milton?

36 point win over a Virginia team, Cooper Mays was out, and pretty much everyone expected us to win this game single handily.

Milton wasn’t Tom Brady out there but he was mostly efficient throwing the ball.

I’m not seeing the whole “sky is falling” by some of you.
Then to, I don't think we showed our whole arsenal. I believe we only saw a small portion of what we are capable of!

He was literally a dropped pass away from putting up the same numbers. After He settled down, He ran that offense efficiently. He made the correct reads and was decisive.

Yeah I don't get it. We covered the spread, Running backs look improved, WR's look just as good, and the O-Line looks fine. We also looked improved in defense. Kicking game is really the only area of concern right now, but that can be easily fixed.
Yea, punt game was awful, need to get better there. Dee had a drop but more than made up for it later. Also had 2 kickoffs OB, can't have these things in SEC games.

What, if anything, did You see concerning ?! I've been watching Tennessee football since 86 and that's about solid start to a season as I can remember. Every team is unique, and this is this teams baseline. If they regress, sure, be concerned..... the problem lies in expectations. Folks are "concerned", because thier expectations weren't met, and what did You have to base those expectations on ?!?! Enjoy the win.
Again I’m not saying I have concerns, or huge fears, but I’m sure I could genuinely come up with areas that I’d like to see. My main point of posting was to point out that there is two factions here, one who is happy happy happy/never question or you will be shunned, and the other faction is filled with mostly people who bring up certain things they notice, or didn’t notice.
For instance this second group was fine mentioning the short coming of BJ, and group 1 was relentlessly going after group 2 for it. Then finely after multiple years he’s fired and group 1 acts like they were always open about how terrible he was, and we should all just move on.
By the way, not comparing BJ and JH, and not saying I think JH is bad, I’m happy with him, just to clarify.

Sure there’s a third group that truly is negative, but they are fringe at best.

This whole idea that floats around here that no one can even speak an ounce of concern, or should I say like to discuss things on a forum of all places is insane. It gets old

There is a difference between concern and panic. The former is healthy and leads to improvement. One reason Saban is so successful is that he is always concerned about something and trying to reach perfection every game. Panic however is debilitating and can kill a program.
I like where we are at after one game. We know some areas that need tuning. Better to find them now and get them corrected before Conference play.
Ad many have said, punting needs work. Milton and the revivers do need a bit better timing on some routes. And I want to see our Defense not just get stops but actually start forcing some turnovers. We had a couple of plays yesterday that should have been interceptions.
But I am not down on this team or its coaches. I feel better now that we have a real game under our belt. I can already see the improvements in the Defense and our depth was so nice to have on display
Did you notice that we had TEN different plates catch a pass yesterday? That has to give opposing DCs massive heartburn as they prepare for us.
Go Vols

Handling the hostility and pressure of a night game in the swamp. He does that and he moves into the top echelon of Vols QBs ever. It is the only thing yet lacking on his resume.
I believe he checks that box off fine in two weeks.
Get er done Joe!!!

Special Teams need to clean up their mistakes because teams such as Alabama and Florida and Georgia and Texas A&M will feast on them.

I just tread when Milton finally throws an interception. Some heads will explode

I have zero issues with Folks raising concerns, let's just keep this in perspective. Brand new team...first game of the season.....new players with expanded roles, some entirely new...go out and win by 30+ in a game that We were expected to do exactly that. I'm not sure what anyone is seeing that is cause for concern, not after the opening game of the season.

I am still even confused by the massive concern some still have about the secondary. We only gave up 106 yards passing. Granted a lot that can be contributed to the great play by our front 7, but they barely broke 100 yards for the game. I really only saw one DB that still refuses to turn his head, Kamal Hadden, but even he had the presence of mind to sweep the ball out of the receivers hands to break up the catch.
Me too, I thought the secondary was partly responsible for the sacks. I mean Musket had time enough to throw on some of those hurries and sacks, but the receivers must have been covered.

We could have had 4 straight drives of 75+ yards and 4 tds, and those people would still find something to b**** about. Don’t take it personal, it’s just what they do

I was happy with the game, some newbies struggled a little. That dropped pass by Keyton was a shock. The pass in the end zone to Bru caused by Defensive player pushing him out of bounds...it was close. Those two plays cost Milton 100+ yards in passing. Punter needs to get it together. All fixable. GBO!

It was a perfect throw lol

9 outta 10 throw. Keyton had to slow a step to get it. Probably gets caught had held on. RK has had great hands, so I see this as a one off. The other was too high to catch after I watched the replay.

The “bench Milton” posts were mostly in the game thread and should probably be dismissed for lots of reasons - 🍻
Just some in the moment venting by a few fans. I think fans that can't handle the least bit of negativity or criticism are way more annoying.
