Why Vols have 50-50 shot at loss at Bama

Someone provide a synopsis please, since OP won't. Preferably short, as the title implies something entirely nonsensical.

I think its an awesome mathematical prediction myself. To figure out that one team has a 50% chance of winning with only two teams playing is quite astonishing. Thats John Nash type stuff.

This is an obvious trap game...we're coming off a key string of victories and maybe sitting a little higher than we should be...bama's playing at home on national television and needs a big victory.

He's calling it a trap game.

They all are. Maybe he missed the debacle in LA, but we aren't above laying ostrich sized eggs. I don't see it AL and the historical precedent line in the title is boderline retarded. How many players, on either team, played significant minutes the last team we visited Tuscy?

The Bulldogs would win Saturday's game between Mississippi State and Georgia, too!

No they wouldn't. MSU has significant issues.

Tossing out another, altogether unrelated college basketball upset as support is just pathetic.

I never understood why people bring up historical records to support their statement of a current game. Did our win-loss record against Florida in football help us over the last 5 years...?

I dont buy it. We play well, we win. AL has matchup issues almost across the board. We play poorly, however, they win. Pregame excuse making just sucks IMO.

Think Pearl might reinstate Kevin Nash? I think he has eligibility left.
He did leave with some time left. Sadly, I think he burned the remaining eligibility at one of our satellite schools, Jack Daniels State.

The Miss. St.-Georgia prediction was a joke, man! They are both the Bulldogs, get it?

As for history not mattering, tell me that before the next Tennessee-Kentucky football game....

Vols have won consecutive games in hoops since 1970 and 1971.....

It's been a dicey place to play because Bama, a football school, gets fired up for the Vols in EVERYTHING.

I know, I covered the Tide, and those folks hate Tennessee as much as the Vols' fans hate Bammers!

It's a great rivalry when they play in anything, even the softball and baseball games I've covered between the programs.

For every match up in which you claim "history matters", I can name multiple in which series records had no indication on the current outcome.

Tennessee is just better than Kentucky every year considering the vast talent gap. Don't tell me that the reason UT has been winning these close games against UK lately are due to the winning streak.

It has generally been because KY blows. Decent stretch was because we had some otherwordly talent, but much was about their lack.

But isn't that the definition of a "trap game". If we play as well as we have been playing, of course we would win, no matter what Alabama does on the court. A trap game has more to do with how we play rather than what the opponent does. I'm just claiming that there are certain factors that can lead us to play poorly in this game.

Then they're all trap games, which is what I said.

the history was interesting.....losing to UK is a no-brainer all those years in hoops...

And while Bama has had its moments, you must admit it's not like there was a VAST talent differential

PEarl 6-6 on road vs. SEC West? You wanna throw that stat out as non-relevant?

SEC East teams at Florida, S.C. and Vandy have had as much if not more talent than West teams, and Pearl owns them

Alabama has a decent team, not overly talented, but they have been competetive in most games. I think they have a very promising young coach. It is always hard to win on the road in the SEC (How often do we win in Oxford?).

What happened in the past doesn't mean Jack as far as tomorrow's game. If Tennessee plays well, they will win. If not they lose.
