The Taliban-inspired attack that killed two US soldiers over the Quran burning, Obama apologizing to Afghanistan for it.

Because we all know how everyone feels about the issue?

We need new blood in the forum.

what's there to talk about? We were told we would be getting less involved but are opening up new fronts. By new blood I assume this means you want more anti-Obama threads?

Shouldn't have burned it but I'm tired of worrying about nutjobs freaking out at the slightest hint we are disrespecting their religion. Appeasement and PC has gotten us nowhere with this crowd.

F'em.

I equate it to the church and condom controversy going on. Most can't be bothered to get riled up until their priest tells them to. Same in Afghanistan, most wouldn't have really protested without the influence of the Imams and Village Elders. At this point the taliban is trying to get new recruits so they are pulling strings and inflaming things. If we can communicate effectively with the Mullahs, Imams and Elders then they could stop all of this tomorrow (Friday they go to Mosque).

1) From what I read it was an accident and was stopped when they realized what was in the stuff they were burning.

2) Anyone who thinks that the protests are just about that are deluding themselves-- its about our presence there, generally.

3) I suspect that if this happened five years ago the reaction would have been far, far worse. The Taliban has seized upon this to try to whip up some anti-American sentiment. Seems the masses are just tired of it.

We are winning.

I find it alarming that more people are disturbed over the burning of a book than they are people getting hurt and/or killed over it. None of this is surprising though.

I can guarantee if people burned a bible no one would get killed over it

There is no way to appease these people.

Get out of here with your common sense and experience in that region. It is not welcomed in these parts.

I will wait for examples.

So Christianity does not have radicals? Is that what you are positing? Or are you going to take a page out of gs's playbook and say that there are (presently) different amounts of radicals (percentage) for various religions?

I will agree there are radical Christians, however I don't see any Christian killing someone for burning a Bible.

for burning Bibles? No. Usually the examples you all provide happened a long time ago.

Yeah, because we are first world. Life is good so we stopped the madness. That's the difference between Christian religious zealots and Muslim religious zealots.
