Why you should not vote for McCain...

I should also add that capitalism also provides the mechanism to punish the perpetrators of Enron-like scandals. Socialism, Marxism, etc. don't provide that mechanism, since it's the government that benefits from the greed.

Pelosi and Reid already scheduled the book burning for that one

Pelosi and Reid should be encouraged to do away with their well worn copies of "The Communist Manifesto" and "Das Kapital" and pick up (and read) a copy of the US Constitution.

greed exists in every system. You don't think the leaders of the Soviet Union lived a threadbare and destitute life like the peasants do you?

of course not.

neither am I (or ever have) called for Communism.

I'm saying that basic human nature is the cause of much of our problems and frustrations - it's not always the "system."

How does the POTUS make our schools respectable?

Look at what NCLB has done for Nashville schools. They are FINALLY being held responsible in a way they have never been held before. The state has now begun making decisions for this school system. Now do I think this will help. Hell no, but atleast there is something being done that is not the status quo. Like making excuses such as the kids are from poor households and the such. It boils down to discipline and this is something that does not exist in some of these Nashville schools that have been ignored for years.

I am in classes with future K-6 teachers, if these women are seriously going to be teaching the next generation of children, we are in bad shape.

Read "Inside American Education" by Thomas Sowell...that is a real eye opener as to the type of people teaching our kids

An interesting viewpoint:

As famed inventor Dean Kamen was quoted saying, “Everyone is complaining about supply – we don’t have enough teachers, enough books, more, more, more is the American way. If you look at it, it’s not a supply issue. We have $600 billion going into education, which is more than most of the rest of the developed world. It’s not supply, it’s demand, the lack of it. And it’s not an education problem, this is a cultural problem, you get what you celebrate. By the time kids are teenagers, they want to bounce a ball like Shaquille O'Neal, not go into science. While the U.S. produces 72,000 engineer graduates a year, it produces 84,000 graduates with sports management degrees. That tells you that if the world is going to compete in anything that gives out hot towels, the U.S. is going to win.”

Try having a kid in school right now... supposedly my daughter's school is one of the better ones in the county. If that's the case, then I'd hate to see the others. I say this in complete honesty, she learns more from us than at school.
