Folks have been talking about the seeming lack of diversity in some of the play calling. Some have said the team is so young, the playbook has to be kept small.

I think we've seen a new wrinkle here and there in each of the last three games. But still somewhat limited. Especially when Worley went out at GA.

This week though, I believe if there's anything in the playbook bUTch & Company have confidence in the execution based on practice reps, we'll see it. All out, rest of season, balls to the wall.

1) I do think the playbook is somewhat limited because of our O-Line and general youth. But not to a point where we can't be competitive.

2) Coaches aren't holding onto pages for later games except for trick plays and drawing up game-specific plays.

3) I don't think our fanbase understands this offense enough to truly gauge diversity of playcalling.

4)Teams know our O-Line sucks and have put their defensive resources all over stopping our passing game. The only way to combat that is to run the ball - which our O-line is slowly getting better at.

I sure loved that double reverse against UGA. Great play.

I'd like to see some cut back runs like Gurley did all day against us. Those are good plays too.

We ran a triple reverse against Georgia. We tried a pass from our running back against Utah State. We ran our version of the wildcat against Georgia.......

Playbook has been pretty open..... We've scored 38, 34, 10 (Too many T.O. and solid D but did move the ball) and 32.

Butch knows what he's doing....... His scheme and playbook are solid!

I honestly didn't mind most of the play calling at Georgia. I know a lot of people started flaming the OC when he went away from the short routes/screens but it's only a matter of time until the short pass routes, screens, etc. start getting jumped by the DB's/LB's. We have to be able to get some decent yardage on the ground Saturday. The deep ball has to be there this weekend as well. I would much rather have a drive stall and have to punt and flip field position rather than have an INT and momentum swing in our own territory. JMO.

Agreed. Jalen Hurd in the wildcat formation was a big success (although for some reason Georgia was still playing way off the line of scrimmage in a conservative nickel defense during those plays), and so was the double reverse. I like how we're using Pig Howard and Devrin Young on jet sweeps and wheel routes out of the backfield, and I would suspect the coaches will have a similar package of gadget plays for Darrel Scott soon.

In a larger sense, I don't understand the fan criticism of Bajakian's playcalling. Even if we hired Bill Walsh or Gus Malzahn as our offensive coordinator, there's only so much we can do with an extremely green offensive line that can't pass block. I think Bajakian's done a terrific job given the circumstances.

I say the heck with the playbook. Lets play some backyard ball !!! Just kidding. I havent had a problem for most part of our play calling. Although I must admit, does the word "slant" exist in our playbook. just saying.

More complex plays tend to lead to more explosive plays. Problem is we are both very young, and the OL can't hold blocks. Neither of those things is conducive to running many complex plays.

THIS! Put Worley under center and throw a quick slant to the TE or whoever is in the slot. That was open all week last week with the blitz UGA was bringing! Can't rely on it all game though.

Our offense is what it is. Running game will be mostly all zone and there will be quite a few packaged run/pass plays. Passing game is either quick stuff or downfield, but mostly all to the outside. True playyaction is almost non-existent. Some playaction roll outs.

The wrinkles or trick plays we see in certain games are all gameplan stuff. The coaches usually have a different "package" each week that we run. Maybe a different formation or concept to catch the defense off guard.

So I guess my point is I would not expect many monumental changes. We'll have a few new wrinkles each week, but the base has been installed and it is what it is.

For the record, I pretty much agree with this and I'm not bashing past play calling. All us armchair QBs have perfect 20/20 vision looking back on what could've been called. And as I said, they wouldn't be running them if they hadn't got them down in practice. I do think we'll see in this game pretty much all the playbook they've got, with of course as was already said, a few specific plays designed to take advantage of perceived weakest links in the Gator D. And that will happen for each game we play.

I did like the delayed handoffs to Hurd. Great execution.
