Wildcard?

Anyone thinking that we already have a hire just waiting to announce so they dont steal any of Fulmers glory tonight?

This is just my opinion, but I would think, based on how long this process is taking, that Dave Hart is doing his due diligence in investigating each candidate thoroughly. At this point, he has to know who will be the next coach, but is continuing to "turn over each rock/kick the tires", just to make sure he gets "the right guy". At least that is my hope.

I just find it hard to believe that we would have fired Dooley and then waited 10 days before we started the search. Now they are saying that multiple sources are saying that Strong has reported he is staying. So that leaves us with two coaches that the media is saying we have that we are in the running for. Fedora/Gundy. Sounds to me like Gundy is using us and ARK for a raise. This makes me think even more now that we have someone off the radar.

I am all for Butch Davis. I am not so much for Petrino. Just still have some hate for him for what he did to the Falcons. Although at this point he is the best name out there.

I think that it is going to be Strong as it appears that he just told Louisville yesterday F you and the horse you rode in on to the Louisville fans and stated that Kentucky fans give their football team more support than the Louisville fans give their football team.

Sounds like a parting shot from a coach who is leaving and has some things he wants to get off his chest before he walks out and slams the door.

I don't know, but if no one is hired by Friday I'm going to start to wonder about the "smoke" theory and if Gruden is still not in play. I really want to believe, but can't bring myself to do it.

Unless a successful NFL coach has serious college experience and he's not on the NFL hot seat right now, why would he ever be interested in getting into the recruiting ratrace he will have to get into? Beside, I don't believe Tennessee could ever match NFL salaries. I just believe that the best that Tennessee can and would offer would be anywhere from three to five million shy of being able to compete with NFL coaching salaries....even the coaches on losing teams now!

Strong is on the move. Listen to his last press conference-- he did everything but announce it. Arky and UA have their guy, UK has already hired half their staff, even NCSU moved swiftly and got who they wanted. The usual suspects are staying put. Guess who's left?

o rly?

You think Dooley>Strong?

HA HA Strong is a major upgrade over what we just had. Although I still feel that Butch Davis and Petrino would get us winning faster than Strong would.

I had to use a breath mint after saying the word Petrino also.

Petrino might. But there is no way I could root for any team he coaches.

Who is the wildcard that we end up getting? The way it looks at this point. Strong is iffy on if he is leaving or staying. Gundy apparently thinks UT is not appealing. Fedora was to get interviewed this am now its tonight. Who knows if thats gonna happen. So who is the wildcard that we end up hiring. The way it looks at this point we are not going to pull any of the names we are hearing. I am thinking its someone way off the radar.

Someone posted a video of Strong's meeting with Hart earlier in the Gruden thread . Apparently Strong really wants to coach UT.
