KNOXVILLE –Lady Vols Coach Pat Summitt announced today that sophomore point guard Sa’de Wiley-Gatewood will transfer from Tennessee effective immediately.

Wiley-Gatewood, a 5-foot-9 point guard from Pomona, Calif., was the team’s fourth-leading scorer at 8.0 points per game and had started eight of nine games this season for the top-ranked Lady Vols (9-0).

“Sa’de didn’t feel like she could play her game here,” Summitt said in a release. “We hate to see her leave the Lady Vol family, program and university. I hope she can find great success with her basketball career, academics and life.”

I think it's strange for this to happen in the middle of the season.

If she transfers immediately, will she be eligible to play for another school this season?

To me Gatewood seemed like a selfish player. She has a lot of talent but she also has a big ego. If you are not a team player then you will not play on Pat's team. If any team can afford to take a hit like this then it is the Lady Vols. Just more minutes for Hornbuckle who I think is a better player.

Wow...this is a total surprise.

And not the good kind, either. She did seem a bit selfish, but she's young. I would have thought by the end of this season, she would have grown out of that.

I hate to see her go. She was a very talented player with tons of potential. Afterall, she was the major factor in the final minutes of our win against UConn last season.

she's pregnant!
Let's hope the father is Riggs or some other graduated football player. Getting women pregnant in college can destroy your career, look at Phil. :whistling:
