Will anyone go to jail over fbi investigations?

The NCAA would be one thing but the FBI doing the investigation is a whole other beast. Can you imagine the dirt the FBI could get easily on coaches/schools from players and their families just by showing up at their front door? The feds would get confessions without doing much work to get it.

FBI = grand jury subpoena

It's enough to make you pee yourself.

If they get into football... we are all in trouble! I'm talking every single school in the SEC. It will be worse than the old South West Conference. Trust me, we are all paying to play and NOW the antee is upped.

Great point. Why do you think we hired Pruitt? Things are already changing at UT to level the playing field.

Your response had nothing to do with our posts. Doesn't matter anyway, we just had a difference of opinion.

Um...yes my response did have to do with your posts; it was a direct response to what you just said.

Actually it didn't. He was basically saying shut down all women's sports because they are a "joke". He used the fact that they didn't make money as his reason others agree that they are a "joke". I asked if NCAA baseball should be shut down also. I didn't nor did he say they should be paid.

But the original discussion that splintered about women's sports started because it was put out that they'd have to pay women basketball players, which led to the comments about women's basketball "being a joke". I'm pretty sure the idea of paying women's basketball players is what is considered a "joke" and that's because it makes no money. I'm pretty sure if someone suggested paying NCAA baseball players, they'd probably consider that a joke as well, because NCAA baseball doesn't make schools money (that I know of).

For the record, I'm not agreeing if anyone is saying women's sports are a joke.

NCAA women's basketball is a joke because of its competitive landscape (or lack thereof), independent of any conversation on whether or not the sport makes money or whether they should get paid. If women's basketball made money hand over fist, it'd still be a joke. You can be impressed with a program like UConn and conclude that they are really good, but to hold up their winning streak, their overall record over the last several years, or streak of championships as if it is equal to such a streak occurring in a more competitive sport is just ludicrous.

Alabama has an impressive run of titles in football too, but they at least have competitors and occasionally get outplayed and lose games. UConn, meanwhile, has gone 188-3 the last 5 seasons, with two of those losses being deep in the tournament, and they haven't lost a conference game in over 5 seasons. Hell, Alabama has lost more games than UConn has the last 5 years, and they are playing 13 to 15 games a year instead of 37 to 40!

NCAA baseball (or softball, so it doesn't look like I'm picking on women's sports) is a legitimate sport because it is actually competitive, with lots of good players playing at a lot of good programs.

But yet Uconn hasn't made the championship the past 2 years. You're entitled to your opinion, but I would come up with a stronger argument.

I'm not defending the WNBA, because I'm not a fan, but the league is 20 years old and averages almost 8,000 fans per game. When the NBA was 20 years old, it averaged 6,000. The NBA and it's teams struggled a lot financially as that league grew. There's only 2 teams that existed in the first 20 years of NBA history that are still exist today in their original home. Just throwing that out there.

That said, I hope some of the bluebloods in the men's game that have been gaming the system are taken down. It's time to get the massive corruption out of the sport.

The WNBA is also financially backed by the NBA. It wouldn’t be around had the NBA not financed it for most of its time as a league, and doubtful it could survive now without it.

Why is it the FBI has all of these resources to investigate the NCAA Basketball scandal but when they are given a tip about a school shooting that is about to happen they won't even look into it? #Politics

They didn't make it the last 2 years because of OT losses in the Final Four, which was their only loss during each of the last 2 seasons. And they won the previous 4 championships before that. They haven't lost a conference game in 5 seasons. The last time UConn didn't make the Final Four was 2007.

Again, they are 188-3 over the last 5 years; that's winning 98.43% of their games. They have finished among the final four teams in a 64-team tournament 11 years in a row. That isn't a sign of just a dominant team; it means that the competitive landscape in that sport is a joke.

Alabama football, in a sport which lends itself to good teams having higher winning percentages than a good team in basketball, has won "only" 90% of their games over the last 5 years, hasn't gone undefeated, and usually at least loses a conference game during a season. They totally dominate college football, but Alabama's domination of football pales in comparison to UConn's domination of women's basketball.
