Will Brooks on scholarship?

He might not have had an athletic scholarship, but may have had an academic scholarship.

His NIL deal probably covers it
His name is not on the list of player jerseys at the on-campus Vol Store. Not sure why not. The VolNation online only store has the home orange jerseys with his name and number, but no blackout jerseys. I really want a 35 blackout jersey.

Heck man, if he put a QR code on his helmet I’d just pay him directly.

Anyone know if this guy is on scholarship yet or if not, why? Dude is just always in the right place. In addition to the pick to seal the deal, made some TD saving tackles last Saturday. He's as important as any player on our defense this year.
Do scholly's even matter? Last time i checked, kids get money now.

The new rules will get rid of walkons as we know them now. It will also increase parity by reducing max roster size. There will now be the hard limit of 105. As an example Nebraska has 151 players on their roster (known for tons of walkons) UT has 126. It means less leeway to find diamonds in the rough. Nebraska is famous for converting walkons into contributors and if you think about it in the last decade or 2 UT has had a lot of major contributors from the walkon ranks. Jacob Gilliam, Colton Jumper, who was the walk on DT a couple years back and no one can forget the majesty of Rod Wilks.

Teams will find a lot less guys like that.

I would not be surprised to see most schools not give 105 scholarships but maybe 100 or 95 and fill out roster with walk-ons. I think there will still be room for walk-ons.

Hard to use a scholarship on a Walk-On senior. Im sure they have him taken care of in NIL tho.

most is a strong word....schools can roster guys without scholarships or give partials yes but. Any school competing to win will be giving out 105. Its not a lot of money to the schools and they will be happy to do so. For most schools the receipts from 2 home games would pay for the 'costs' of all their schollies. Most of the costs of a scholly are not real money its just money you are not taking in. Its like if I give my kid money to pay for his his rent for cutting the grass and he lives in my house.

Main reports are there are no scholarships available to offer Will. I've looked and can't find it be he supposedly also told coaches he didn't need it and to use one on someone who does. Which would fit right in with the growing legend of Will Brooks. One should google him and read all the stuff on him and how quickly he adapts to defensive schemes and helps others dial in. Arion Carter is a huge fan of Brooks and working along side him.

I've been told the total scholarship cost (not just for football) is going to add 8 to 15 million to the ADs expense. They are looking at how to generate additional revenue to cover that. I would guess that increases to ticket prices and or donation levels would not be viewed by many fans as "not real money".

I miss the days of Rod Wilks jokes.
Five offerings just for you, MississippiVOLS:

Rod Wilks counted to infinity.......twice.

Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Rod Wilks.

The Boogieman looks under his bed for Rod Wilks.

Rod Wilks does not sleep, He waits.

Just because you fall for it does not make it real. Most price hikes are companies taking advantage of consumer fears and people not knowing how the money is actually made. How much does it actually cost a college to cover tuition? Nothing you are just letting an extra person sit in class. If I am talking to a room it takes me no more energy to talk to a room of 10 than it does for 20.

Ever notice how when there are price hikes the companies hiking prices are having record profits? Because people fall for it. They use the fear and ride it as long as they can. I mean if McDonalds is raising prices to cover costs they should break even on profits right? Unless in fact they are just hiking prices way more than they need to take advantage of your fears. I'll put it simply... If I cut your grass and my cost on gas went from 2 bucks to 4 bucks so I raise my price by 20 how does that math work? Thats how this all works. A lot of the 'costs' are just paper costs moving money around. If I cut a kid a check for tuition that he has to turn around and pay to me have I really spent that money?

This case, it's just UTAD paying the UT academic side money that the players generate. UT paying UT.

I'm not falling for anything because it has zero impact on me. I just happen to trust the people I speak with.

Everything you say may be very true. Doesn't mean they won't up costs of coming to games to cover the "paper expense".

Guess the future will tell.

2 things can be true at once. The prices will go up but the reason they go up wont be because its paying for that its because they can. The key is knowing what the truth is. As the saying goes a person will fall for any conspiracy if they are unaware of how things actually work. The T-shirts a lot meaner but that's the gist.

When the gas station hears that there is a shortage and goes out to raise the prices.. They already paid for that gas the price change wont hit them for days likely.

How does anything you say help the consumer? They still pay more. To them the reason doesn't matter.

Don't fall for it. I am not trying to help consumers here this is a football forum but if you'd like you can do the research and the answers are there. We live in a capitalist country and that's how things go. As far as sports teams raising prices when their product is in demand I have 0 issue with that. I have an issue with them giving lame excuses. The prices for ticket would have went up no matter what next season trust that. This was just a convenient excuse for them and they drop it out there ahead of time to gauge reaction. If they get a lot of uproar from the people that matter (actual ticket buyers and boosters) they'd probably rethink it. The problem with that though is the line for those tickets is long enough that even if a lot of people nope out there is someone happy to buy the ticket they would have. Its how business works. Did you know that 90% of cell phones have screens from Samsung including Iphones. Your car you think is a Chevy or a Ford is just as likely to have parts from Mazda or Mitsubishi in them? Most things made in America aren't and the ones that are usually are lower quality than their so called cheap competitors?

I guess the main point here is this. Don't believe everything you read. Will Brooks is doing fine and its very unlikely he's gonna have student loans to pay off when he graduates. UTAD will likely see record profits for the next few years as they struggle to pay to follow these new scholarship rules. And, it won't matter as long as we are putting winning teams on the field someone is gonna pay to go to games as they should. If we regress prices will slow their climb until the next upswing. But they ain't going down no matter how much anyone whines.
