With all he had going against him Dooley and Co. put together a really good class. He did what was needed by filling it with bodies of good players.

But with a will Dooley be able to attract big name in 2011 (without the smoke and mirrors of kiffin)?

James Stone is a pretty big name. 2 in 2 weeks isn't so bad. At this rate we'll be overloaded with 52 4* and 5* players by next signing day!

No, he is going to ignore them on purpose and let Alabama/Florida/Texas/USC fight for them. He's going to skip over all 4*-5* players and start his search at 3*s.

Not only did he get Rogers, Hunter and Stone, but he got them in the middle of a coaching change without a full staff. He sold the University. This is very important.

Come on... This is Tennessee. There are going to be Big Time players that will want to come play for us. I think CDD will get the job done right!!!!:dance2::rock:

Post KiffEn:

CDD recruited, signed & took away from other SEC schools.....the 2nd & 8th best wide receivers plus the 9th best running back.

All within 2.5 weeks....so I believe he will go after only the best!

GO VOLS!!!!!

YES OF COURSE THEY WILL! They are going to be going after they very best players in the country but they will be evaluating players based on their characters, work ethic, and mental toughness a little more than the last staff I can assure you.

Look at his work at LSU. He's been clear on his approach and He will do a great job recruiting every year I have no doubt.

Parents will feel very comfortable with Dooley

A lot of the names were already thinking about Tenn because of kiffin (i also know ppl like stone hated him and would not have came.) but what im talking about is him getting big names with out any ground already laid for him.

He has answered this question in his >1 month on the job.

Next thread: Will Dooley actually try to win games or just stay close?

Actually, that wouldn't be that far fetched. I think I remember a coach we had who was accused of that...

It seems that Dooley's time as recruiting coordinator for Saban at LSU is proof that he is acquainted with big-time, big-name recruiting. Dooley and staff will recruit well even if we do not have that many W's this year. Of course, winning always helps recruiting.

With the offensive weapons we have this year, we may surprise some teams this year. Of course that is pivotal depending upon quarterback and offensive line play.

Are you kidding??? This is TENNESSEE!!!

Two out of the last three classes before kiffin didnt really seem to care this is Tennessee.(might as well say all three because except eric berry and walker there was not much production.)

Tennessee is the biggest selling point here....if the kids wanted to come here because of what Kiffin said and did then why would most of them still have signed after he left. Start scratching your head ....right.....about.......now. :)

He just wants little names. 5star kids are too tough to get. He's going to stick with 2's and 3's

I think its a good question. IMO they definitely will. Will they spend huge recruiting dollars, time and energy in places like Cali? No, this staff will be more regionalized and thats a luxury we have being in the southeast.

With that said, I do think the staff will put more empahsis on quality student-athletes. By that I mean I wouldnt expect to see us working hard to bring in ball players who are fighting all odds to qualify.

In the end keeping CJC and CLT here is hopefully a priority. They brought stability and carried a lot of great insight over into the new staff. Tennessee has to go after top talent ( 5th in the SEC this recruiting cycle). An while only Florida was ahead of the Vols in the east, the rich got richer.

The big difference is more focused in the southeast and with this in-state cycle better than last year, harder looks in our backyard.

Finally, thank you.

Of course several came because of Kiffin and staff, but to think Dooley isn't going to bring in great recruiting classes because he doesn't have the 'Kiffin flare' is absurd. CDD did a fine job as recruiting coordinator under Saban at LSU. With that experience and the experience of the rest of the staff, we should be able to recruit head-to-head against other universities for the top players in the Southeast.

No, I heard he is exclusively going after 2-star players for 2011.

Of course you can sell integrity to 17 year old kids. Half of UF's commits were quoted just after committing as saying they enjoyed "Urban's family atmosphere" or had an "emotional talk with Urban."

The real selling of integrity occurs with the parents though.
Sell the program and playing time to the players and the integrity and life coaching the players will get to the parents.
