You have a job, actually an internship, where serious injury can occur instantly with little warning. It is your last day on this job before a big payday ahead. Do you continue to take risks that last day and jeopardize your financial future or lay low?

They are quitting on the team and fanbase if they voluntarily do not finish the season. I would not have a player like that on my team. It is a character issue.

Character issue LMAO. If somebody offered you a multi million dollar job but you had to start Monday you wouldn't give your two weeks notice to your old job, you wouldn't even give them a call.

It's not a character issue. Deciding what is best for you and your career/life is not a character issue. And honestly, people don't have the right to judge those people for doing what is best for them. I would do the exact same thing and not think twice. Maybe if the NCAA would pay players properly then this wouldn't be an issue.

This is similar to when fans were pissed that Tee chose to do what was best for his family and stay in LA, Granted, turns out that didn’t work out so well for him.

Not even close to being the first and it will have absolutely zero effect on his draft stock
Not even close? Haskins is the only one that I believe could be better in the league

All Grier has done is get better and better every year Herbert has regressed bad plus he’s 6’6” QBs that tall would would scare me if I’m a GM with a #1 pick especially after Lynch and Osweiler

Grier has been a beast since his redshirt freshmen yr and he’s clutch Herbert couldn’t hold his jock dude reminds of the Allen kid last yr Gabbert Tannehill etc

It’s crazy how these guys can be so average and end top 10 picks

Always go best player available

Does Herbert have any memorable wins where he was the reason they won? Or lock for that matter

Grier was clutch as a freshmen all those fourth downs to beat y’all then dropped 4 touchdowns and about 300 yds he buried em and they were top 5 at the time

Grier is gonna be good one bet

Pretty sure he was saying that Grier isn't close to being the first player to voluntarily sit out a bowl game.

He's not the only one this year. There are several players skipping bowl games this year. I heard a list of names on the radio this morning.
yeah I saw a couple no names from Ok St that dont even have a draft rating

Unless my team was in the playoffs, I’d do the exact same thing

Self over team. Got it.

Good thing the SEALS, Rangers, AFPJ's, and Marines don't bail out when it looks like there's nothing to be gained by sticking around, right?

Yeah, I know, bad analogy. Sign of the times. Welcome to the "Me Generation".

Then it doesn't matter what type of player you want on "your" team since YOU don't run the team. YOU don't get to make the decision.
I can state a opinion about a hypothetical decision whether you disagree with it or not. There have been statements for and against my opinion. I'm Ok with it.

This is like the fifth straight year this has happened with players. Where have you been hiding Abingdon??

First time I have heard of a high profile player do it and Grier is someone I kept tabs on some this year. West Virginia is a secondary team I pull for since I lived there for 15 years and graduated H.S. there. I keep up with sports news but it doesn't dominate my life.

And technically a person who commits to a team is quitting on the team if they don't voluntarily finish their 4 playing years, since that's what they committed to.
I differentiate between a player foregoing a full year for the pros then quitting before a season is finished.

It is a character issue and exhibits a "Me" only mentality. Call me old school, there is some merit for a team commitment. That mentality also has merit in the military. I stand by my opinions.

I believe many on here who are negative toward my statements on Grier would have a different opinion if Dobbs had done the same thing in 2016.

No it’s not. You can criticize or disagree but you’re totally off base trying to frame it as a character issue.

Of course you can say that because your not in that position. You’d have a much different opinion if a few million dollars were on the line.

Nope I’m always for a guy to make a decision for himself with that much money on the line.

I've known who I am for 57 years. I would not quit on the team before a season is finished. It is a character issue when you join a team and then quit. Grier's decision not to play will significantly hurt WVU's chances of winning that bowl game.

I'm someone who keeps tabs on Dobbs because he is in my top two or three UT favorites and hope he has success in the NFL. If he had quit on the team before the bowl game his senior year I would not have interest in his career at all. Dobbs did not do that because he has "Character" , something Grier apparently does not have.

Of the ones we played this year, who are graduating, I would take Lock for the Titans.
