Will Kentucky finish in the Top 10 in football this year?

I am basing my opinion on #1 they ALMOST beat us at home last year #2 they have almost everyone coming back #3 we have several questions to answer on both sides of the ball...that's all I'm saying. UK has been playing teams closer and closer...that's all I'm saying. I guess we should just wait until the end of November, then see. :eek:k:

how many times has KY almost beat us???

that's what i thought.

A bunch, unfortunately.

They never seem to win, but there have been a bunch of sphincter-tightening games with Kentucky in the last couple of decades. As OE says, it's about been about every third year. We're going to lose one of them sooner or later. I don't think this will be the year, mind you, but eventually it's coming.

I remember in 2001, I think they had like a 3 score lead on us in the third quarter. I was getting pretty nervous that weekend.

This may be the best team KY has had since the Couch era, maybe even better than any Couch team because they should have some semblance of a defense. Unfortunately for them, they play at Arky and vs LSU. I just don't see how they can win the East with that schedule.

Kentucky was near the bottom, if not dead last in Total Defense in D1 Football in 2006. You wouldn't have known it from the Tennessee game, but it's true.

I think they will show some improvement on the DLine and in the secondary. Depth will be a real issue as usual. Keep your eye on Wesley Woodyard. He is a candidate to be the next Patrick Willis.

Kentucky wins the East at 9-3, 5-3 in the SEC.
I love you, man! :dance2:

I think they could slip into the third spot in the SECE IF they get some breaks and beat USC and UT.

Beating USC on the road, Thursday night game, on ESPN will be a big challenge. Beating Tennessee anywhere- history is against it, but I'm dreaming of a blue Thanksgiving.

It's the hardest schedule I've seen them with in a while. Playing Ark, LSU, GA, FL, UT, UL is a pretty good murderer's row.

Georgia will simply outscore them.

With what? Matt "Keg" Stafford? :) No, I agree that beating Georgia AT Georgia is tough. They'll be out for revenge.

Kentucky is more overrated than any team in the SEC this year...sorry Brian...They had Ole Miss and MSU out of the west last year. They'll still have MSU, but the other 2 west opponents are Arkansas and LSU.

I disagree on the overrated part. We're Kentucky. To call us overrated in football is an oxymoron.

At least we get MSU every year, yippee! ;)

so now we should be scared of the guy we all wanted fired for being inept????
what the hell is going on today? is there something in the water?:mf_surrender:

Heh. There's a nice interview with CRS at UKAthletics.com today.

I'll tell you what- CRS has had every opportunity to bash the Vols in the media, and he's kept his mouth shut, exuding nothing but class and gratefulness for the opportunities he had in Knoxville. Normal people might spout off about being Phil's scapegoat, but not Randy. That should rate him quite high in anyone's book.

I remember that game they led 21-0 I believe and we came back to win 38-35.

The Derek Smith fumble game. I was expecting a complete blowout loss, and for 2 quarters, the Cats kept them down until Clausen hooked up twice with Stallworth in the 4th qtr for TDs.

Clausen finished 20-of-30 for 285 yards and four touchdowns.

Lorenzen also had a big day and hooked up with Anthony Kelly on
a 62-yard TD pass with 3:53 left, tying the contest at 35-35.

Lorenzen went 34-of-53 for 406 yards with four touchdowns and
one interception. He also carried 13 times for 52 yards and a
score.

Clausen quickly led the Volunteers down the field, moving his
team 38 yards in six plays, setting the stage for Walls' winning
kick.

"You have to give Kentucky credit for what they did today,"
Clausen said. "We as a team cannot come out and play like we did
today. I guess a win is a win but we need tp go back and study
film and get better."

Any chance for a comeback went by the board for the Wildcats on
their next possession when Lorenzen fumbled and Will Overstreet
recovered for Tennessee inside Kentucky territorty with 2:09
left.

"We really thought we had the game won," Lorenzen said. "It was
a great game, back and forth all day long. Tennessee played
great and adjusted well to come out with the victory though. If
they weren't the kind of team that could make adjustments than
they wouldn't be ranked so highly."

I sure hope that Wesley will lay the wood to some opposing QBs this year. Spring game showed a very aggressive blitz scheme featuring Woodyard. Should be fun.
