Will Kiffin even coach a game at USC??

Sort of a gut feeling. USC will be hiring a new president this year who, in turn, will have an entire athletic department now on his/her watch. First order of business is to fire the athletic director who, under his watch, now has a football and basketball program on probation. First order of business for athletic director is to fire any coach whom he believes will not get the athletic program back in line with the NCAA.
Maybe a little more than a gut feeling.

what negative press? the new AD would be making a huge positive impression by firing Lane and Ogre, the two coaches who probably had A LOT to do with the reason they're in trouble now. I don't see how that would be perceived as negative....

I don't know why he would wait around. The Kiffin hire, as it pertains to the NCAA view (which admittedly shouldn't matter much, but does when sanctions are looming), was the dumbest possible hire he could have made, save John Calipari.

I don't think they will actually fire Kiffin but your point is well made. USC knew they were being investigated. While the investigation is going on they go and hire a HC who was on staff during the time the questionable acts with Bush went down. They basically spit in the NCAA's face and said, "we think we are bigger than you." It was a retarded hire on many different levels but I think that is the biggest reason it was a mistake. Of course I know if they had their way Kiffin wouldn't be the head coach. The position would have been filled by the 4 or 5 other guys they offered it to initially.
