will neal get drafted?

Here are his #'s vs big time defenses this year:
Oregon 42 yards/0 TD's
Fla 42 yards/0 TD's
Ga 148 yards/2TD's
USCe 77 yards/1TD
ALA 70 yards/1TD
Missou 8 yard/0TD
AU 124 yards/1TD

I would say he gets drafted 5th round. The NFL typically drafts RN type of backs in 4-5th round. He doesn't have a ton of carries, so he isn't used up like Bama backs. Good upside for NFL. Good luck to him.

He might, and I mean might, be a 6th or 7th round pick. I'm thinking in drafted FA. He's just too inconsistent for the NFL. But who knows? He may make me eat my words, and I hope he does.

He's a Hardesty type back with a clogged exhaust system. He has some tools but IMO he tends to be unmotivated. I do believe he improved a ton this past season, his o line wasnt anywhere near where it could have showcased him. I'm thinking maybe 6th round to a team like Detroit.

Yes. Too big and fast. Lets not forget he rushed for over 1,000 yards this year with 8 in the box most of the year.

If you guys can't tell that he's a sub 4.4 guy on the field, you're blind. Neal can RUN

However, I don't see a high level of agility/quickness on the field.... which as the coaching staff told him, is because he runs "stiff." He's not very fluid with his shoulders (maybe its him trying to keep his pads square?). This makes it appear as if he isn't that fast, which is misleading. If he ran "looser"..... watch out. But it is what it is. It hurt him bouncing outside all the time, though his between-the-tackles running has improved tremendously the last two years.

Anybody at UT would tell you he is not unmotivated. That kid is quiet and worked his tail off.

Foster used to have that issue at UT. Glad he figured it out in the NFL. Hopefully Neal will as well.

He did just fine as a junior. I doubt he just developed that problem as a senior. The OL was terrible in 08. He was getting hit 2-3 yards in the backfield and would find a way back to the LOS. As far as Fosters play goes, he gets a lot of flak that isn't deserved.

If hes a 4.4 guy ive never seen in bro. all im saying. anyway hows ur bundle of joy? Ran into tom awhile back and he told me. congrats!

Okay Ertel, we will agree to disagree on Neal's speed :) I am going to predict he runs around a 4.40-4.45 at his pro day or combine.

Anyways, thanks for asking man, she is doing great!

He doesn't have good vision. Thats all it boils down to. And instead of hitting the hole and geting guaranteed yards, he bouces it outside a lot. Sometimes its a 40 yd gain. Most of the time its a 1 yard game. He has all the talent in the world. Just needs to read his blocks.

I think he'll go from 4-7th unless he has a crazy combine then maybe even higher. Neal has shown that he can be a hard runner when he wants but his stats are inconsistent. Last season he was a poor runner and he did dance around to much and get taken down with a single touch. However, he has grown since then and you can see him maturing. I blame some of his inconsistency this year on the offense as a whole because often we couldn't move the ball by throwing it and the run game becomes useless. Bama and Auburn can run the ball well as we all know but they can actually get a first down or touchdown passing. So it keeps the defense on their toes more.

Running backs have a short life in the nfl so I think Neal will be drafted. Who knows he could become the next foster, minus the tacos of course.

drafted - yes, but maybe not as a RB. He may make a better slot receiver. Aside from questionable vision, he seemed to trip and fall anytime someone merely touched his foot. Try tackling him high and he is tough to bring down.

Yes, Neal will get drafted. By who, I have no idea. After the middle of the first round, my guesses get thrown way off. But I feel his runs got stronger as the season progressed. I would think as high as 3rd round, and as late as the 6th.

Until he learns to run straight ahead and not dance around so much then No...But that doesn't mean someone won't pick him up.

I agree, but the last few games he seemed much more North and South.

Coached up possibly???

Just look at what Neal did with 1 year of good College coaching as far as improvement, and improving a great deal facing the teams this season. The NFL would miss out if they passed on him.
