Here is an off the wall theory: what if this is misinformation designed to throw NCSU off of creating a game plan? Why not just announce that one of your star players is suspended for the season then trot him out on game day to the chagrin of your opposing coaches?

Do I believe this is what is happening? Absolutely not. Do I think it would be an amazing coaching tactic? Absolutely.

Football in many ways resembles war game-planning: never let your opponent know your full capabilities, lull him into a sense of security, then overwhelm him with decisive force.

Nice, a conspiracy theory to talk about for 7 days, 5 hours, and 46 minutes!!!

I actually wondered about that right after it was announced. But it's just too far out there. And the appeal filing is official.

Yes, but the appeal could just be a cover. They could review the test and find out it was a mistake, then he would be vindicated for going off at the coaches because he wasn't really guilty.......somebody help me here. I am reaching.

I do find it weird that the head coach can say he doesn't expect him to play, but he isn't kicked off the team...

Appears to me that maybe the University, not the athletic department, has dismissed DR.

I'm sure there would be some type of University appeal process, but if it's the last straw with the University, then there's nothing that Dooley or Hart can do... Just my opinion.

True, but the four-week process is mandatory, once you file. DR would miss NCSU and UF, and those are two pivotal, high-profile games. Drop them, and we're probably looking at 7-5, and Dooley will likely get tossed.

The appeal is very curious, though. DR must feel he has legitimate grounds-- and he obviously wants to stay or he would've said "screw it" and headed for GA State.

If he comes back I would hope that this fan base would support him. He is a kid whom made a mistake. For you'll to cast stones at him are wrong, if this was your family member or friend of the family how would you feel. Da'rick knows that he messed up, he knows that he lost a great chance at making millions in the NFL and so on. I hope that he learns from this set back and finds the courage to face this head on and finds his way back onto the football field!

I would venture to guess that any conditions put forth for Da'Rick to live up to to rejoin the team would be entirely too insurmountable for him to accomplish. I simply don't think his character would allow it.

^This^

Even if he was offered some conditions to rejoin team, his past shows he wouldn't be able or willing to abide by said conditions for very long.

IMHO, his college days are over.

He's going the way of Bryce, Janzen, & Honey puff.

I love this generation of Americans that believe people should get 5 million chances and should always be supported.Playing for UT is not a right for Da'Rick and he knew what he had to do to stay on the team, he failed.

Personally, I'd like to see him grow up and overcome the odds of getting back on this team... I just don't think it's possible... But I would be nice to see something good come of all this...

Copying my scenario from the thread What Happens Now? I see. Imitation = highest form of flattery. :)
