Friedman would only go to the Astros, imo.

Cubs should do very well under Epstein. Ricketts is willing to spend money and Theo can build a farm system. It is on the thin side, but there are some solid pieces in the system now. Will be interesting to see if he can trade anyone of the 25 man to reload the system.

That would be sweet.

When the season started, the Astros payroll was at 70mil. They traded Pence(6.9mil) and Bourn(4.4mil) putting them below 60 mil. They're expected to trade Brett Meyers(8.0mil) and Wandy Rodriguez(7.5mil). That puts the Astros at 43 million. Carlos Lee(18.5) comes off the books after next season which drops the payroll to 25 million.

It's probably a long shot but outbid everyone else for his services and he'll have a clean slate to work with. If Crane is willing to spend like Drayton did, he'll field team with a 100 million dollar payroll.

People said the same thing about the Red Sox until Theo took over. Anyone who thinks the Cubbies wont be a contender in 3-5 years is going to be in for a rude awakening.

And im usually not very optimistic when it comes to the Cubs haha.
