Will The LV's Make The NCAA's?

IMO, unless there is an even worse implosion during the rest of the season, Tennessee will be in the NCAA tournament, and they won't be seeded at the bottom of the bracket.

As disappointing/frustrating as the season has been, there is no way that you can say that the Lady Vols are a weaker team than even the champions who come out of the minor conferences like the Big South, the NEC, the Big Sky, etc. Those are the teams that for the most part will be seeded 13 - 16.

You guys are Debbie Downers. There are very few "great" teams out there - ND, a legit top 3 team, beat us by 13. Tex AM, a legit top 10-15 team beat us in overtime. Kentucky beat us by 1. Mississippi State by 2. If we'd won each of those games, and we easily could have, we'd be talking about being back in the top 15 and a probably 3 seed.

Obviously I don't think we are a top 10 team, but in spite of the losses and rankings, I don't think we are that far away from it.

I really cannot understand why this unrealistic fans refuse to see what is happening here. The if we could have matter not. The fact remains that we have lost 9 games and several of those to unranked teams, struggled to win against several other average teams, if we make the NCAA and seeded between 6-8 that would simply mean one thing the programs name.

LV are not to be discussed as barely making the NCAA. Should be a legit top 2-4 seed always.

Are you guys listening to your self...Here we are one of the most storied programs in women's basketball and we are trying to figure out how we can make the Tourney...My how times have changed. When are we going to realize this is a problem that changing the roster can not fix...We have to get new coaches into this program!

I know. Don't know why Holly lovers cannot bring themselves to understand that change as to happen for this once storied program to be respected again.

Well I think most fans hate to think we have fallen to the level of not making the NCAA tourney as that has never happened in over 30 years. We have made everyone that has ever been played. Were setting enough negative records this season but if it meant Holly was gone if we didn't make it I would be all for not making it. However I don't think it matters as far as her job is concerned. I think he would have her back even if we had a losing record.

The bad part is that this needs to get worse before getting better. There's no way Holly is getting fired with a bunch of years left on her contract. It would be hard to justify financially. The reality of that means they're going to have to either extend Holly or let the current contract play out. Obviously an extension would be unwise at this point. The problem with that is a lame duck coach is going to become increasingly bad for recruiting. I would guess Holly's situation is already being used against the Vols, as well it should. If any of the current team were to transfer, it could just snowball into some really tough years.

We will not be able to afford all the black curtains needed to cover all the vacant seats in Thompson Boiling next year. This only applies to the Lady Vols games.

I think the NCAA will make sure that the LV's get in, but my prediction is they put us in the same bracket with uconn. The only way that an early round WBB game gets any TV exposure would be to match up the two biggest names in the sport. That normally couldn't happen until the round of 8 or the final 4. Now they get a chance to do it in the second round.

I hadn't thought about that,I'm sure the NCAA will try to make that happen

but I do think they will get in anyway, just because there still in the top 30 of teams in the nation,it will be hard not to invite them

If you look at most situations where coaches are terminated with several years left on their contract it usually is not financially prudent. However, D1 universities seem to have few problems with eliminating bad men coaches' contracts with several years left before completion. The biggest issue is does the university allow a problem to fester over 2.1 million dollars or do they admit to bad judgement and buy out Holly's contract, because compared to the buyout of most D1 men's contracts, Holly would receive peanuts.

The university certainly should not extend Holly's contract, especially based upon the present results, that is simply throwing money into a black hole. On the other hand why pay someone $700 to $800 thousand dollars a year, until 2019, to run a once proud program into the ground. What that says to the world is we really do not care what happens to women's sports. I assure you Tennessee is not going to go broke by paying off Holly's remain contract.

On can always negotiate a new contract and change the payout numbers and tie it to to her record. If she disagrees to do that, the hand writing is on the wall. The way recruiting is going, it is impossible to recruit worse than not getting anyone. Recruiting is going to be worse anyway o the only reason to keep her is financial. We all know how the Administration feels about financial matters. The Lady"s basketball team loses either way. That means the if she stays, the rebuilding process will be more difficult and much longer than if she leaves within the year and a half.
