The Temple loss an upset, I don't think so. Ever since Tennessee beat Georgetown our teams have gone in opposite directions. They have shown vast improvement, playing with confidence and we stink. I bet Georgetown would beat us by 20 if we played tomorrow.Good job Bruce.

Fans like yourself are why we have not had a good Basketball program until Bruce.

I really think this team has all the potential in the world to be a top 5 team by March. IMO i think their are only two teams in the country that if we played up to our potential would have better talent & depth, & to me those two or Duke & North Carolina.

I expected this team to take it's bumps & bruises early in the season. I knew we would have to find some chemistry & the players find their identity on the team. But what i didnt expect was for us to lose to Temple by 16. I thought the games we would lose early in the season would be in the Old Spice Tourney in the early rounds, to Marquette, & @ Kansas. I didnt expect us to play the horrific "D" that we are playing, i didnt expect us to have horrible offensive set's like we have been having, & i didnt expect us to not be able to press like we have the past few years. I did expect us to have some miscues & mistakes with them but not this bad. Like i previously said this team has all the potential & talent in the world to be a top 5 team, win the SEC regular season & tourney, & also make a run @ the Elite Eight but they have ALOT of work to do to reach that potential. IMO this is Pearls biggest test since he has been @ UT. Were about to find out just how good of a coach he is.

He needs a guard or two to stand up behind Maze. If we do not get that. It is not on the coach. We have holes last year's team did not. We need another PG badly.

You obviously have not seen Uconn, Pitt, or Oklahoma play. These physical teams would pound the Vols. Of course, these teams will pound a lot of folks this year. Throw in Texas, U of L, Gonzaga, and Xavier and there are a whole lot of teams with as good or better talent.

Vols will be fine come March. Young team that is learning how to play BP system and with each other. Two losses in December do not ruin a season. Lose 2 or 3 more before Jan 1, then you might want to worry.

Yes that is true we do need another PG behind Maze. When Maze is on the floor the team looks more composed & in sync.

What is up with Chism? I saw some development in him from year 1 to 2 but from year 2 to 3 i really havent seen anything. He needs to get more aggressive on the glass & the defensive side of the ball, he also needs to quit picking up cheap fouls! I think we would be better off starting Williams than Chism right now.

Your correct i havent seen those teams play, so right now i cant judge their talent. I have seen Oklahoma & Texas play though, but like i said if we played up to our potential we would be more talented IMO.

Definitely troubling....we need a lot of work.

Yeah, critical fans were to blame for Wade Houston , Jerry Green, and Buzz Peterson being awful basketball coaches. Look at all the success they had after they got away from our awful fans. Oh, wait.

It's so early in the season...are you also just going to write off Michigan St. and Louisville?

It's very early in the season and we have 3 new starters, and a ton of new faces. They'll grow up.

This should be expected from such a young team. There are going to be major highs and lows throughout the season, but come March I expect us to be fine.

:good!:

The Vols are alot like the TIGERS imo , because they have some really good talent , but struggle to play as a unit.

You can tell that we have been a "football" school for a long time. The basketball IQ leaves a little to be desired.

I know it wasn't for me. That was just the first thing that came to my mind was somebody taking it that way...
Side note: I'd say in most cases you'd almost have to play the game at some point to really have a high basketball IQ. And there are those that make it somewhere playing the game just off of athleticism and zero basketball IQ...
