Will the real Vols fans please stand up?

How big of an idiot are you? And I don't ask trying to insult you. Butch Jones was hired as the head coach of the University of Tennessee. Would I have loved to get a Gruden or Peterson or even Patterson? Absolutely, but this coach had nothing to do with that. He saw an opportunity and took a job that he wanted. There is nothing the fans can do but support him and hope he has success. If you want to continue being a whiny bastard then please go root for a different team.

This is the **** that pisses me off. Instead of telling others they're not true fans/go root for a different team, why don't you apply your advice to yourself. This whole fancard thing is way overblown. God forbid fans have a different opinion.

No. I don't need you to spoon feed me poop and tell me it's chocolate pudding. You blind supporters have brought Tennessee to this point. The powers that be see that the fanbase will accept anything. Enjoy losing, sheeple

REAL Vols stand. If you can be VFL then you are NOT a VOL. This one stands and is proud because by the grace of God I was born in Tennessee and by choice I will ALWAYS support the Vols. I may not be 100% happy with CBJ but I am 100% Tennessee.

If you can't do that, then enjoy being a "front runner" someplace else.

I was very disappointed with the hire this morning, and am still uneasy about it. I will support coach Jones until he no longer deserves it however, which hopefully may never happen.

Just because you think hirings/firings,etc could be handled differently, and you don't always agree 100% with everything the University/AD/team/coaches/players do, doesn't make anyone not a "real" fan.

Who am I? UT alumni, fan since 1966, season ticket holder forever. But I don't care for Hart. Until Jones proves himself he is just a fairly successful coach in two of the lower conferences in the country. No where near a great major impact hire. I am neither a wild eyed sunshine pumper or a chicken little sky is falling. But UT should have done better hope I am proven wrong.

Yes they should have and I despise Hart too, but Coach Jones has nothing to do with either. To give him a full load of confidence, we need to support him and fill up the stadium next year starting with the spring game. Let's show this coach that we want him to succeed...not wait until he turns the program around for us to start supporting.

It is FINE to have a different opinion and disagree with the hire, but those that disagree don't need to blast his twitter with idiotic remarks or already claim he's going to fail without even putting together his staff. It would be like me saying he's going to win us SEC championship games. I'm not saying that either, but what I am saying is that he's now our coach and nothing can be done about it so everyone needs to support him and hope we start winning games again.

I agree bro!!! I'll be there.. The way I look at it is, if you can support a team at their worst, you deserve them at their best. The only way to go is up, and I think this guy can get us there. Think being the key word, of course. I'll support this hire until he gives me a reason not to.

Just watched the 2:30 presser of CBJ. Impressive!!!!!!! I think we have the right man for the job now. It may be tough next season, but I believe he will get this team headed in the right direction.

Wanted a bigger name? Sure, we all wanted instant credibility. Either way CBJ is now our beloved Big Orange head football coach and I for one will still cheer, scream and yell for my Vols. I will still put up my 98 Championship flag on every football saturday. I will still decorate my living room with Smokey and tons of other Volunteer good luck stuff while watching every game, even with my yankee wife and kids shaking their heads and looking at me like I'm nuts. (They just don't understand the orange blood transfusion I received while living in Knoxville for 18 years of the first 21 years in my life) I still bleed orange 20 years later!! I will still drop the top on my custom painted Tennessee obnoxious orange 68 Chevelle convertible with GO VOLS license plates and proudly greet these Penn State fans with a "Go Vols" to all.
I will support our new head coach as he represent a new beginning of hope to bring our beloved Vols back to winning SEC championships and contending for the National Championship. Heck we won the first ever BCS crystal trophy in 98, why not win the first ever 4 team playoff in 2 years?(or is it next year?) if so,let's win the 2nd one :D)
C'mon negavols, let's see how CBJ gets a staff together. Let's see who stays to play for CBJ. Let's see what ofense he runs. Let's see what defense he runs. Let's see what his 1st signature win is. Let's see what his SEC record is after at least 1 season. Let's see if he can turn the Big Orange into a compettitive SEC team again and then cheer him on and see if he brings the Tennessee Volunteers back to a dominant program again. Whew it felt good to get all that out and GO VOLS!!!!!!!!

I am loyal to The University of Tennessee and never the coach. As long as the coach makes my school successful I am happy with him. I have no opinion of Butch Jones other than he is on a very short list of coaches that Dooley beat head to head. I am interested to see what sort of staff he can assemble in Knoxville.

Jones can't help being the coach. He was offered more money than he's ever made and he took it. We all would have. My problem is the process. Hart and Cheek should be brought before the board of trustees and made to explain the process used and the events that led to Jones. I'll support Jones in a reasonable way until he no longer deserves it, but Hart and Cheek need to be strongly criticized for their handling of this. So says this third generation Vol.

I'm a Vol fan. However, I am not a Dave Hart (who is a Bama fan) fan... nor am I a fan of his idiotic hire.

GBO............. anyway.

Don't have to like the hire but you do have to support him if your a True Vol For Life!

GBO

I got your back CBJ! Until your prove us wrong then you are the man on the hill now!

Right, because acting like it's an absolute certainty that coach who has only had success in his career will be poop is NOT a characteristic of sheeple.

There are way more negative sheep on this board than positive sheep.

If your a "True Vol For Life" you wouldn't support this hire. It's just more of the same shame for a few more years. It's Dooley 2.0 at best.

Not everyone responds to years of disappointment in the same way. One can remain an optimist. You can also become a complete fatalist. Many of us go from one extreme to the other and all points in between as information emerges.

Regardless of where you see our Big Orange world, I think it is safe to say those that are still around to hope or gripe after all these sad years are real Tennessee fans.
