I just think we need some rhythm on offense and some plays that develop a little bit faster than these reverses and stuff. I just feel like our team is too slow to run this read option style offense at this point.

Indeed. We are trying to run a spread with a pro style QB and a line that was recruited for a pro style offense.

Vols fans know we will improve as the year continues, but sometimes forget, so will all the other teams we play. Not one team on our schedule is waiting on Tennessee to get better, they have their own goals to acheive as well.

I think that we have a first year starter at QB and we just played the #2 team and the #16 team at their home fields...things went as predicted.

I have not ruled out that the QB position improves as the season progresses . It happens every year at various schools. If it happens here , the running game improves because the gaps are not clogged up . The defense improves because they are not on the field more than normal and the opposing offense is more predictable and under more pressure if we are scoring.

There is a stretch of very winnable games at the end of the season ...so I am thinking 6 wins.

if we go 4-8 someone will have to be let go from the coaching staff, the offensive coordinator maybe a possibility.

This is far and away one of the stupidest things I've ever heard on VolNation. Even worse than "Gruden's a done deal". You eclipsed that. Good job.

Why can't stupidity be painful??

FFS, what part of "four games into a brand new system" is hardest to comprehend?? What part of "players that weren't recruited to play in this system" did you fail to figure out?? Stupidity on the level of yours should be painful.

This "instant gratification" BS that's so prevalent in this world......needs to stop. Everyone wants "now, now, NOW", nobody has any ******* patience anymore.

My wife, who knows NOTHING about football looked at me during the Florida game and point blank told me "they look better than they did last year at least. At least they're trying to stay in the game this year and not all-out quitting." If she can make that statement, with her admitted lack of FB knowledge, why can't you and your kind (read: consistently negative, I have yet to see you EVER post one single positive thing about this team or these coaches) see it as well??

Wait, you were hoping for Gruden, weren't you?? :eek:lol: You think this offense is bad?? You would have been (*expletive deleted - defecating*) kittens if Gru-bage were here. I've seen him in action. It's not pretty.

2-10 it's happening deal with it.

Ok since you're the magic 8 ball, how about making a bet? If we go 2-10, then I will delete my account and if we win more than 2 you delete yours. Man up big boy.

If you don't want to bet than just say your an Alabama fan disguised as a UT fan. At least then your intelligence level would match.

This team is going to continue to improve throughout the season. They played with a lot more intensity vs UF than any Vol team in recent memory. We lost, but they knew they been in a fight.

By the time we get to November, we will very capable of running the table and turning 3-5 into 7-5. We also have a bye week before we the Gamecocks come to town. With a young team, that means a lot more. If we get to November at 4-4, watch out.

I think it'll either be 5-7 or 6-6. I think we'll win one of the Mizzou/Vandy and drop the other. We might win both. You never know.

This team is switching to an entirely different offense both in passing and running as well as blocking. That transition will take some time. The Defense basically lost an entire year and they'll take a while to get back up to speed.

Who knows. Maybe we get Ferg in there and he gets a hot hand.

Reality Check.. We play football in the SEC! The Minor League of the NFL.. We are a Sub-Par team playing an A-List schedule. We have a new head coach who hasnt even had his own recruiting class yet. This is YEAR ONE! If u thought anyone was gonna come in turn this thing a around after one summer your football knowledge is pre school at best. If Jon Gruden would have took the job would our record be any different???? The important thing is that this coaching staff get the ship heading in the right direction. We will get there.. This number one recruiting class is the precursor to the return of the BIG ORANGE of old! #VFL

The other thing to remember is that the staff is continuing to work their system to build toward the future. In other words, we aren't spending a lot of time practicing gimmicky plays that can maybe shock a team and maybe get a few extra points. We are staying with our system and are improving each week. It is just difficult to watch the sausage being made...

It's 50%-50% that we go 4-8 right now. Our seasoned OL is playing like absolute rookies, I watch "leaders" like Jacques Smith just get blown off the ball or totally out of position, our RB and WR are well below SEC caliber on play after play. I don't see where the spark will come from that will improve the team above 4-8.

It WILL be interesting to see who stands up this week and asks for Peterman to start a game for us.

Just because you are a leader doesn't necessarily mean you are very good. Jacques has just been around for a long time.
