Will This Impact The OU Game?

He was listed as 4th string on their preseason depth chart at RB, although he was a 5-star recruit. I doubt he misses the UT game, but even if he does, they have many options in front of him.

No impact.

... unless there are injuries in pre-season camp or games before UT/OU, which can happen.

I am not sure what I said in my post or any others I have made since coming on this site that would indicate that I come with malice or ill will. I am a college football fan, pure & simple. I have been a regular on Warchant & Tidefans as a result of our home/homes with the Noles & the Tide.

I am looking forward to seeing the Vols on Owen Field. As far as Mixon is concerned, what I have stated are facts that are well known from the OU side of things. Mixon has not been charged with anything at this point but that doesn't mean he's home free. He has been suspended from any and all team activity until the issue is resolved.

I certainly am not condoning hitting anyone, man or woman but there's apparently blame on both sides in this particular situation. The only thing I take issue with as it relates to this thread is the implication that Stoops is somehow easy on his players and lets them get away with things. This is simply not true. As far as DGB is concerned, we'll know soon enough whether he plays this year but it should be noted that the Mizzou people are working with OU to make it happen. Frankly, I could care less about the circumstances. All I want to know is if he can get behind the Texas secondary.

While highly recruited and rated the #1 all-purpose back coming out last year, it has always been a stretch that Mixon might actually play, let alone start, in 2014.

Yes, Stoops has a history of playing talented freshmen if they earn it but Mixon is up against some quality returning RB's who will be very hard to beat out, including Keith Ford & Alex Ross.

As far as the situation Mixon finds himself in, Stoops has a reputation for dealing with these types of issues fairly & consistently. When a player deserves it, Stoops has never hesitated to cut him loose (the best example being in 2005 when he kicked our starting QB & a starting O-lineman off the team two weeks before the season started.). On the other hand, Stoops has done a great job of managing the maturation and rehabilitation process on certain players who have gone on to be outstanding citizens.

From all reports, Mixon is a great kid who was confronted with a situation that many would have failed to handle properly. The young lady in question was drunk and apparently verbally & physically accosted Mixon, spitting in his face and calling him the N word. Unfortunately, he reacted in a clearly thoughtless manner. It remains to be seen just how law enforcement and eventually OU will handle the situation.

The Vol D will have enough to worry about on 9/13 whether Mixon is suited up or not.

you forgot to mention that the victim also has an incredible 40 time and mixon had no shot of escaping her or the situation. totally justified huh?

They should drop this kid. Unbelievable that this kid and the Missouri kid are on the same team.

Not sure about her athletic prowess but she did have an outstanding warrant for her arrest at the time of the incident.

Honestly, at the age of 18, under the circumstances, I am not sure how I would have reacted. No one is condoning Mixon's actions but their are mitigating circumstances. We shall see. I am confident that the OU staff, athletic dept., & administration will handle it well.

Getting back to Mixon's chances of playing this year, notwithstanding the current issue, we rotate our backs and have done so even when we have had a premier starter. Both AD & DeMarco Murray were regularly subbed for. If, & it's a big if, he comes through this unscathed and joins fall camp, it is still unlikely that he will see much of any playing time.

As we get closer to the game, I hope we can engage in some real discussion about both teams. As I said, I come here with no agenda. I have been a Sooner fan all my life and do have considerable knowledge about our program. I will be in Norman for the game and I am looking forward to seeing a great Vols crowd in attendance.

I'll be there...will be tailgating...hope to meet you! Half the fun in these games is the back and forth with (non obnoxious) opposing fans. :salute:
