Our two wins are against teams with losing records. Virginia is 0-3. Austin Peay is 1-2. Florida is not the Florida of old. They aren’t that good and they manhandled us.

No Vol player’s performance has stood out as ultra-elite this year. Did all the hype last year go to their heads? They don’t seem like they are gelling. Poor clock management, stupid penalties, doing silly things that good, cohesive teams don’t do.

We had a very favorable schedule this year. It’s a shame to blow an opportunity to build on last year and be relevant in the SEC.

I honestly don’t think this team has the pride, fire, heart, hunger and drive that last year’s team had.

If the Florida loss doesn’t change this team’s attitude and heart, it’s going to be a very underwhelming year.

We won't implode but the question is will we be above average and beat 3 of the 6 teams as shown below. Assuming UTSA, UCONN and Vandy should all be wins. Considering we don't play well on the road, November could be very depressing if we don't take care of business against the Gamecocks and Aggies. All the goodwill earned by last year's squad could be washed away in a hurry if we lose to South Carolina. UTSA, we need a complete and productive game on both sides of the line of scrimmage and appear to have some semblance of an identity on offense. I have no idea and wouldn't want to wager either way. Will be interesting to say the least.

Home vs South Carolina
Home vs A&M
Away vs Bama
Away vs Kentucky
Away vs Missouri
Home vs Georgia

Being at the game, that’s what stood out to me the most. There just didn’t seem to be any emotion on the sideline. I didn’t see anyone trying to get others fired up and compete, just seemed to be going through the motions.

We lose to SC and you can go ahead and start working up talking points for when the crazies—at least those who haven’t already—really start calling for Heupel’s head. I’m just glad we didn’t have message boards back in the 90s. If we did, Fulmer would have been let go after the second season 🤦‍♂️

So you’re ignorant of football and dishonest to boot. We finished with a whopping two losses in Fulmer’s second year, ended up ranked #12 in the country. We tied #3 Bama that year. What do you think our chances are to end up #12 this year? Or tie or beat the #3 team in the country? Stop lying.

I’m talking about the fact that he couldn’t beat Florida and everyone would have jumped his sh*t for him to be fired. Get over yourself and read the room.

Edit
In fact, your bringing up the outcomes of that season are perfect example of why the crazies out there already hinting we should fire Heupel need to STFU and move on. It was an ugly, terrible, embarrassing loss. But that doesn’t define a season, as you so proved with what Fulmer did to overcome his Florida losses.

Fulmer didn’t get run out of the stadium by an unranked team in his third year (or any year). He lost by a whopping one TD to #9-ranked UF his second year - but his first year as HC here he beat a #4-ranked UF by 17. So he not slightly but drastically outperformed Heupel against UF. He lost to UF in year three by 31 but they were ranked #1 and won the SEC that year.

silly to discuss firing CJH at this point, but for the record coach Fulmer is still judged by his inability to beat Florida

He beat them multiple times, and most of his losses to them were when they were ranked in the top ten in the country. More than a couple UF teams he lost to won the NC.

It’s a gut check for us as fans as well. Now is a time when we are extremely needed. It’s about more than this year alone. Stay the course and help Heupel build this place up. Our recruiting is getting better and better. A fan mutiny is the very last thing UT needs right now

Fulmer was 5/17 vs UF, 29% hardly impressive. Funny how you said “multiple” vs stating the record. Phil squandered many teams (several ranked) with superior or at a minimum equivalent talent.

My point is valid.

You’re under the false assumption that the people who do the letting go care what some whack jobs on a message board want

Now go on and give me the rest of his record against them…

The point still stands that Fulmer has always been judged by his inability to beat Florida, and to a lesser extent Spurrier himself. UF was always a thorn in Fulmer’s side, but he typically brushed off those losses and had decent, successful seasons. So for people to jump up and shout ludicrous things about firing CJH, which they already have, is insanity.

And just remember... UF is LOADING UP on talent!! How they are out recruiting us after last year is a mystery to me. But now... we can understand why. Everyone made fun of "sunbelt" Billy, but the guy can recruit his ass off and that's about 75% of the formula to winning in the SEC.

Just consider this before calling Vol fans crazy, irrational, impatient, etc. - college football is not a waiting game any longer. The money at stake is unbelievably high and the race to the top is ultra competitive and nasty. The "he needs 5 years" adage of old is now "he gets 3 years". Coach "Prime" (as much as I hate to admit) has single-handedly turned up the pressure even more. This is not an environment for the faint hearted.

Now, about Heupel. His first 2 years were good enough that he earned a longer leash. He is in little to no danger this year. But what happens the rest of this year will determine the temp of his seat going into year 4. None of this is Vol fans' fault. There are bama fans ready to send Saban to assisted living. That is almost unfathomable.
