Will we have as Good a WR...

I would be willing to bet Heupel looks to the portal for another WR. I think we will be fine at WR. There isn’t a DB in the country that can run with Squirrel.

Not a lock that Hyatt leaves, imo. Will depend on how talent evaluators see him. Not a ton of contested catches. But he's definitely on NFL teams radar.

He’s gonna be a player. That is from the coaches. If he isn’t playing big time next year, Vols are loaded at WR

I agree. I expect him to breakout next year. I think we get a big time transfer too. But Merrill could arguably be starting at Alabama this year.

Seriously? Hyatt is as good as gone, and should be. He’s just saying the “right” things. He’s more than likely the Biletnikoff winner.

Yes I seriously posted what Hyatt said on an interview I watched yesterday.

Seeing where Tillman is listed as a redshirt senior who could come back for 2023 if for some reason he wanted to.
Yeah I admitted I got it wrong earlier...maybe in another thread. He was class of 2018 and redshirted. So technically a redshirt junior.

You’re new to football aren’t you?

Have you always had a condescending attitude to people you know nothing about?

No, I’m not new to football. However I’m realistic enough to understand that based on Hyatt’s comments if he and his family aren’t happy with where he grades out and they along with our coaches think he can improve it he could come back. A lot can can happen sideways between now and when he needs to declare a decision.

Do I expect that to happen, no, not really, but it all hinges on if he is happy with where he’d get picked.

Yes, he has potential, and I think he can be good for us. Though most WR’s at top SEC programs were ranked in the top 50 at their positions. Doesn’t mean that much. He was a lower 4 star recruit. Merrill runs roughly a 4.5 40 according to draftscout.com
50/54 im sure those four spots dont mean that much

No, just to people who think they know more than they do. Glad you’re a vol fan, but if you can’t read between the lines and see that he is just saying that to be respectful then I can’t help you.

Players who plan to go pro say that every year. If he does in fact win the Biletnikoff award he would be only the 2nd player in a decade to return after doing so. And the only player who runs a sub 4.5 to do so. Not only that, Hyatt runs in the 4.3’s. So, it’s not happening man. Future first rounder more than likely.

corps in 2023 as in 2022?
I mean we had a guy have 5 TDs against bama, we’ve broken all kinds of offensive records, and all this came out of nowhere!! Nobody predicted the offense was gonna be this explosive.
That being said, the bar has been set very high for the guys next year, but as long as huepel is our coach we’re going to be fine on offense.

I don’t think we will because that’s an incredibly high bar to achieve - we have, I think, a once in a decade group with Tillman, Hyatt, and Bru (supported by the best backup in America in Keaton)

4 spots doesn’t mean anything. Not sure what you’re trying to debate there. I was implying most starting WR’s at top SEC schools are within that range (including 54). You’re interpreting my post wrong.

The poster said him being ranked the #54 WR meant something, and I said it didn’t, as a lot of SEC WR’s are ranked in that range. I think Merrill is a good WR and capable of playing above that rating, which is why I think his #54 rating doesn’t mean much.

Bless your heart, reading comprehension could be your friend, try it and perhaps you won’t continue to make assumptions about what someone said or didn’t say. In the first post I made that you decided to come after me for I very clearly stated I was posting what Hyatt had just said in an interview. I simply reiterated that in my follow up response post. I didn’t add my opinion in either post one way or another about what he said or why he said it the way he did. You have made a lot of assumptions concerning my situational understanding and determined I needed to be corrected on an opinion I didn’t initially offer.
I sincerely hope you’ve been closely watching football since before 1967 or there may be a wee bit of a disparity in who has a better grasp on how these types of future situations can ultimately pan out and it’s highly probable that I don’t need it explained to me. 😉 Have a great evening and GBO!

Added: Freddy was a blast to watch on my favorite team and there’s no one better to have named the award after.

It’s not that you posted what he said, its that you took him for his word and believed it, otherwise you wouldn’t have posted it.
