Oh cry me a damn river. You think the Titans came out ahead in the calling in that game? Grow up.
I haven't watched an NFL game in a long time. I only catch the highlights when they come on as I'm watching sportscenter. However, that was by far the worst call I have ever seen at any level of any sport.
There is no way that's true. The no call on the PI is bad, but the simultaneous catch is kind of a difficult call.
For all the grief everyone is giving the replacement refs, I still haven't seen a call as bad as the time Ed Hochuli called a backwards fumble a forward pass (and that decided a game). How is that even possible? A simultaneous catch, I understand, but how does a backward fumble become a forward pass? Also, the time the OT coin flip was awarded to the wrong team. Haven't seen anything that bad as far as the administrative side of things.
I see a lot of people saying they won't watch the NFL this season till the real refs are back.
What say you? After my Lions got screwed on a call, and tonight's debacle, I'm thinking about it.
You're right. Those extra ten yards had no effect on the game.
Please. I'm not saying Detroit would win, but no doubt it was a horrible, horrible mistake that should never, ever have happened.
Don't be mad about me legitimately complaining about a horrible mistake, be mad your team gave up 14 points in the final 18 seconds of a game.
My issue isn't that perhaps the worst of their calls are not as bad as the worst calls of all time, but in three weeks time there has simply been a plague of bad call. Pass interference is now even more arbitrary and subjective. The pace of the game is now much different, and the game just appears disorderly because the refs aren't calling things in a timely fashion.
If I was a lions fan, I would be upset about the calls that didn't go my way. Just in the same way I would be upset about the calls if the Titans had lost.
I'm always upset with the refs. Knowing that they are scabs makes sensitivity to calls even stronger. I agree that they appear to be worse, but I wonder what the real difference is? What if the reality is that regular refs get 5.2 calls wrong per game, and the replacements are getting 5.5 wrong? Is that a difference really worth worrying about?
Well from week two they found that the refs threw the same number of flags and the NFL touted that saying it's fine.
Apparently a deeper analysis is showing the length of games has increased and the number of calls overturned has increased.
I will try to find links for this.

So you're saying that there was INDISPUTABLE evidence to overturn the catch called on the field?
LOL
Rest of your point is legit, but singling out how your team was screwed and the other wasn't is hogwash.
:banghead2:
What about the questionable flag pick up the play before? What about the fact that Craig Stevens CLEARLY caught that ball, and yet the play was overturned EVEN THOUGH it was ruled a catch on the field.
You're just bitter. The outcome was correct. The way we got there was convoluted.
If anything, that sequence of blown calls cost the Titans yards. They got 12 extra penalty yards, but lost 24 passing yards.
The ball hit the ground IMO. Stevens didn't catch the ball. But there wasn't enough to overturn it, I agree.
Again, I don't care about the calls. Both teams got jobbed on them. But again, if the Lions got ten extra yards because, again THE REFEREES FORGOT WHERE THEY SPOT THE BALL, you'd be in a rage.
Lions got the benefit of that play. Let it rest.
Anyone with two eyes, including the announcers, could see clearly without a doubt that the ball did not hit the ground. That is a homer opinion that it did hit the ground.
Regardless, it should have stood as called. So Detroit actually DID gain a little over 10 yards on that play...
The announcers said it shouldn't be overturned and said it was a close call.
Also, does it matter? That should give you a free ten yards? Lions fans should just say "Well, let's give Titans ten free yards in an OT game because the refs forgot where they spot the ball"? No! That's ridiculous. That's saying make up calls in the NBA are completely okay.
