Win-loss record projections for every SEC football team in 2023

Based off those projection, any SEC game we lose gives our opponent the chance to beat theirs. We can't afford another USCe game.

I want our first 15 win season. This year would be a great time

Agreed.......this is the "everyone outside is watching" year. Recruits, who weren't even born during our last relevant era 🤢🤮, are waiting to see if Tennessee is truly back......or if last year was a fluke year. (I personally think Heupel has us back and will have a killer year with Milton......but I'm also an orange Kool aid drinker so.......🤷‍♂️)

If the secondary doesn't show signs of life. then what? 8-4?

Probably won't beat UGA or Alabama if you can't cover the pass. Probably lose to at least one out of UK, USC or UF too.

Gotta improve the defense. Can't just depend of the offense to win the big games. Heck, you can't depend of offense to win the average game if the defense leaks like a sieve.

I aint getting my hopes up until I see what they do on the field.

That said, as long as the Vols don't get blown out and show signs of improvement in the secondary, it will be a good season. 8-4 should be the floor. I don't want to predict a ceiling because I don't want there to be one.

Our defense wasn’t that bad we was number 2 in the conference Vs the run and top 40 in ppg which both were huge jumps and we bring back a lot of experience and production on all 3 levels on defense they will be better… we don’t beat pitt last year without em nor Alabama I know Bryce went crazy but the defense helped to build that lead early… they for sure need to improve but nothing from this staff has given us reason to believe that they won’t… Heup wont relax and recruiting along with experience gives us alot of competition at all 3 levels the defense will improve and we will be a perennial playoff team under heup when it expands to 12…

The secondary was close to last in the country. I'm not sure the exact number but it was like 3 teams from the worst.

I think our 2023 floor is 9-3, with no ceiling. Not only because we don't lose to Kentucky, but because we have the potential to beat any team on the schedule. Bama at Bama and UGa (even at home), those are tall orders. But our lads, supported by our coaches, they can achieve the unlikely. Proved it more than once last season.

We've been in the BCS playoffs when only 2 teams get to play for the title. We will undoubtedly be in the CFP when it's at 12 teams. I'd like to make the CFP at 4 teams once before it ends.

Go Vols!

9-3 is likely with losses to Bama, Georgia and possibly A&M if Jimbo stays out of Petrino’s way. But there’s not another loss on the schedule. We don’t lose to Kentucky and we owe Beamer ball a beat down. Florida should be pretty bad too.

They gave up a lot of empty yards but the talent and bodies are there… nature of the game because teams couldn’t run on us and they usually was playing from behind all game so they throw a lot… just looking at yards with no context won’t tell the full story.

Except they looked like Swiss cheese against USC. That can't happen to a good defense.

Nice to be the clear 3rd in the sec, but that drop off is huge. We have to beat GA & Bama to change that. I worry about o-line play and Miltons decision making under pressure. I'm tempering my expectations at 9-3. Not sure if that is wisdom or my BVS acting up.

A&M,Bama,UK all on the road 3 weeks in a row
UK Trap game
A&M is a home game, Kentucky has a bye the week before... Kentucky is defiantly a trap game.

I would NEVER...ever ever ever assume Kentucky was a loss. They lost some key pieces to their team. You could say we did as well, sure, but I saw what our replacements can do in the Orange bowl. Haven't seen theirs. Plus we just f'ing own them.
. I think Kentucky is set up very nicely to upset us this year. I hope I’m wrong but I think Joe is gonna be very up and down this season he gets a big win at Florida but loses at Kentucky. Nico better be ready.

Don’t want to make excuses but if the locker room fight is true then the team wasn’t locked in at all but you are right that’s unacceptable I doubt we see something like that again though… perfect storm that game this is the money year for banks but I truly believe the defense will be very good this season heup seems determined and he has given me no reason not to trust him to this point.

Would need elite QB play and much improved defense to get to 10 wins.
I don’t think we will see elite QB play on a consistent level.
Florida, SC, and A&M are the swing games. Good that SC and A&M are home games and we get a bye before A&M.
Feels like a 9-3 season and get to 10 with a bowl win

A ton of weight is on Milton but if he plays up to just some of his potential we could easily go 10-2 with a good chance to win in both of those loses.
