All this talk of the battle to win the east. For what? Like I quoted some other UF poster before, it's winning an expedited trip to the electric chair.

Alabama is at a different level than the rest of us. It's just fact. And they'll slaughter whoever they play in the championship. They have four star players, three deep. If Saban picks up the phone and calls any lineman or running back, there's no hesitation. They say yes, because it's great coaching and a ticket to the NFL.

This is our collective reality.

Well. We all saw OM take Bama to the wire so we know it's possible. Y'all may have the type of team that can beat them. LSU as well. A&M may even have a shot if they can play some defense.

LG this whole narrative is BS. If your institution really doesn't want to play for the conf championship then why the hell are you in the conference. Then you really should have just forfeited to LSU.

I know what you're saying. AB really is that damn good. We know trust me.

But the team still puts on the pads and competes and their fans should support them.

The "nah you can have it" narrative is disingenuous at best.

Took all those words just to say that UF is still scared?

Gators will lose at least once more in conference and maybe twice! Don't get hyped up yet because you're in 1st place. It won't last long!

If we can't get healthy then we sure dont need to face Bama again. I agree to some degree law. They are on a different level. IMO it's bad for college football that they are that dominant. I still feel that we can put up a fight with them if we are healthy. Down 4 offensive lineman, 2 d tackles, 4 lbs, and 2 dbs spells disaster against anybody.

It would have helped. But they'd have won big anyway. They are simply much better than the rest of us.

I think LG was speaking from the perspective of being a fan. Obviously, any player would want to play in Atlanta regardless of how a fan feels. But realistically, we just got throttled at home as a top 10 team by Alabama. Surely it is not out of the realm of possibility to upset them in Atlanta. However, Alabama looks like a 15-0 team this year. As much as I support UT and LawGator UF, as fans we can be realists and acknowledge Alabama is playing at a whole different level than our teams are regardless of reason...injuries/coaching/etc. It is what it is.

Does anyone really believe that the 2016 Bama team is 39 points better than ours without all the key injuries? I definitely don't. We have 19 players out with injuries! We just couldn't stop the run without JRM and DKJ. Calvin Ridley and Ar'Darius Stewart burned us without Sutton. Our O-line is pathetically thin, too. Dobbs had zero time and Hurd/Kamara couldn't get anything going. Run the table and we'll see Bama again. It will be a much better game, too.

Agreed. Lets face it, you have to chunk play Bama. You are not going to do a 3-yds and a cloud of dust. With our injuries and offensive style, seems like Bama was a bad match-up for us.

Alabama is averaging about 45 points/game. They have scored more non-offensive TDs than many power 5 offenses have after 7 games of the season.

So in the rematch, you would have to come up with a scheme that will let you score at least 50 points on our defense. If so, you should be good to go in Atlanta.

Whoever goes to Atlanta from the East is going to get slapped around. Agreed that Bama is on a whole 'nuther level.

All I see are gator fans trying to avoid playing yet another game.

Agreed, and I would also add you have to have some help from Bama with TOs and sprinkle in some outright luck plays. Ole Miss beat them in '14 and '15 due to explosive pass plays and a bunch of Bama TOs, which are uncharacteristic for Bama. And an absolutely fluky pass play last season. The only team to simply line up and beat Bama the last 3-4 years was tOSU in '14 and that is because Meyer essentially built a mirror version of Bama. I know Oklahoma beat them in the Sugar Bowl a few years ago but watching that game Bama was never really there mentally.

Bowl history sort of backs up LG's post. I don't think UT or UF has a real chance vs Bama this year in the SEC championship, and the better Bowl will pick the team that didn't just get hammered by Bama.

That being said...UT needs to win the East to keep it's rebuilding momentum going.

One of the few times I might agree with LG.

That said, if A&M were to pull some miraculous win over Bama. Then you have a reason really want to make it to atlanta.

Heck, If Texas A&M takes out as many players vs Bama as they did against UT. Then you have a reason really want to make it to Atlanta even if Bama beats TAM.

You're averging 45 points per game cause of non offensive TD's lol. You're offense put up 35 points vs a very, very, VERY injured Tennessee defense.

You have what 11 non offensive TD's? So you're averaging 11 points per game from defense/special teams. So your offense is averging about 34 points per game.

Ole Miss already showed what you have to do to beat bama, Tennessee couldn't do it becase of a very, very injured offensive line.

I think you're forgetting that UF had the most sacks in the nation going into our game and has a top 3 secondary. With a healthy offense we put up 500 yards and 38 points.
