You're averging 45 points per game cause of non offensive TD's lol. You're offense put up 35 points vs a very, very, VERY injured Tennessee defense.

You have what 11 non offensive TD's? So you're averaging 11 points per game from defense/special teams. So your offense is averging about 34 points per game.

Ole Miss already showed what you have to do to beat bama, Tennessee couldn't do it becase of a very, very injured offensive line.

I think you're forgetting that UF had the most sacks in the nation going into our game and has a top 3 secondary. With a healthy offense we put up 500 yards and 38 points.

They all count junior. Are you still trying to make an argument for 10essee after the debacle the college football world just had to endure in neyland?

Plan ahead, if somehow you limp into Atlanta, you may want to negotiate the mercy rule in advance.

All this talk of the battle to win the east. For what? Like I quoted some other UF poster before, it's winning an expedited trip to the electric chair.

Alabama is at a different level than the rest of us. It's just fact. And they'll slaughter whoever they play in the championship. They have four star players, three deep. If Saban picks up the phone and calls any lineman or running back, there's no hesitation. They say yes, because it's great coaching and a ticket to the NFL.

This is our collective reality.

Bowl history sort of backs up LG's post. I don't think UT or UF has a real chance vs Bama this year in the SEC championship, and the better Bowl will pick the team that didn't just get hammered by Bama.

That being said...UT needs to win the East to keep it's rebuilding momentum going.

Pretty much how it goes. The teams have typically been hurt for playing the extra game much more than they've been rewarded (as far as bowl selections go, with the exceptions being when teams went into the conference championship games undefeated...and in one rare case, 2003).

Though I think as far as recruiting, hype, etc, is concerned, an 11-2 season plus winning the Sugar/Orange/Cotton bowl would easily be keeping the rebuilding momentum going as well.

You have a point and nobody remembers the East Div champ a day after the SEC championship is played. The fans in attendance enjoy the day, but the losing end doesn't make you feel any better traveling back home from Atl. I attended the 01 game losing in the 2nd half to LSU. You know how those Cajun fans jubilate after a game. You are quickly forgotten as a runner-up.
