Key Tennessee player confirms suspicion about Oklahoma's field conditions in Vols' win against Sooners

"The field was so hard to cut on," said Sampson while discussing a key first down run. "The grass was high, it was slippery, so I was just trying to get the the first down...so even on that play, I couldn't really cut. I knew what it was, so I was just trying to go full speed, downhill, and get the first down."

"I'm sure Oklahoma's grounds crew did all they could to get the field in game shape, but it clearly wasn't in elite shape for the Sooners' first SEC game. I don't think Oklahoma's intro to the SEC could have gone any worse. They lost at home and they're getting slammed for their field conditions. Not exactly a great look for the folks in Norman."

That probably explains the conservative approach in the 2nd half too. Trying to avoid injuries on that crap field

I have no doubt and I was gonna bring it up in one of the FF "hate on Tennessee cause they didn't score 70 points" threads, but, well you know.

People must have forgotten the Oklahoma player that was carted off the field. He was hurt bad. John Campbell was injured during that play too, although he returned. It could have ultimately been caused by that shathole field.

I went back at looked at the play - I thought it was the guy Bishop plowed over but it was the one Campbell fell on blocking him - didnt look field related just Campbells weight falling on his ankle awkward - article says he had surgery https://atozsports.com/college-foot...tandout-defender-gives-update-injury-surgery/

Who are we pulling for tomorrow?
What’s the best result for Tennessee?

-Bama

I’m personally in favor of a complete Bama collapse just because of thier stupid ass fans but I’m willing to be convinced I’m wrong

I've changed my mind.

I want Ala**** to lose this one.

Obviously I'd like both to lose, but I'm trying to be realistic.

Vols need to beat both of them no matter who wins - I prefer Bama loses only because it looks like the Georgia offense isnt as good without McConkey and Bowers

@McDad has an interesting take - a tie. Plausible, if the game is halted and the score is tied at the time. Possible causes include weather, power loss, or a terrorist threat - something that prohibits resumption of the game. It’s an intriguing thought. If such a thing occurs, may it be after fruitless OTs, and Georgia elects to go home.
