Windy's football discussion thread.

Was a joke, a stupid joke but the positive that comes from stupid threads like that is seeing how people react to it. I actually enjoyed some of the cringe posts and how certain people embarrass themselves.

Not enough. It needs to hurt more than that.

The girl at Tennessee doesn’t get punched in the head by a Bama player if Tennessee prevents the situation. Fans don’t need to be jumping around angry football players while their emotions are still raw. And any fan saying they should be more disciplined is lying to themselves. All of those entitled pricks in the FF would be likely to punch someone in that situation

I mean, I haven't been on the field. but I have been stuck in the absolute madhouse that is leaving an SEC stadium surrounded by opposing fans giving me all types of grief, with plenty of contact. never thrown hands. yeah, not a player, but its not like this is some 100% foreign situation that people can't relate to at all.

And fighting happens all the time in those situations.
But…..if you’re breaking the law by trespassing, then I guess it’s ok if you get slapped around by a combat athlete

I guess I can see both sides though. If you want to storm the field, you should be allowed to storm the field. If you want to be stupid and push 300 lb players around like an idiot, they should be free to curb stomp your ass. I guess one needs to understand consequences. Having said that, it would never work that way for the player and it won't go well for the fan who aggravates, intentionally or not, a player that has little self control. So the safe thing to do, is have an area that they can come onto the field that is away from the opposing bench and player exit. That way the fans can be stupid and the players can get off the field safely.

If the host school suspects that a victory will induce their fans to storm the field, they should have a battalion of state troopers to surround the visiting players & staff and provide safe passage to the exit from the field. Let the law enforcement types do the smacking around.

[Local news: As the end of the fourth quarter approached, a seeming army of state troopers lined up behind the visiting team’s bench and at the exit to the visitors’ locker room. When the game ended, and the crowd began to rush the field, troopers move rapidly to surround the visiting team and provide a safe corridor to the exit. Some troopers formed a rear guard to protect the end of the line as the visitors exited the field. Is this what it’s come to? ]

I think the local NG division should be called out. Or fine the school enough that they don't permit it to happen. The cops can stop it. Just go along the fence and tell them not to come over.

Or, put up an electric fence, run current to the goal posts, 480 should do it, maybe mine the area between the bench and the stands.

And we’re back to the big fine.
If it hurts it will stop.

Fans have no place on the playing surface. That’s why it’s considered trespassing

I agree, just giving you the business. I don't think you can stop it unless you begin arresting the students and fining them or kicking them out of school. Arresting everyone else and writing them $500 fines.....I don't see an easy solution. Fining the school I don't think will work.
