Poor tiggers..

Paul Finebaum Names SEC Contender Whose College Football Playoff Hopes Are ‘Dead’

Finebaum explained that his assessment is because the Tigers have faced only two teams he considers "big time": the Texas A&M Aggies and the Crimson Tide. The Tigers suffered defeats in those matchups with a combined score of 75-10. Additionally, Finebaum believes the Tigers lack a strong non-conference victory.

Finebaum thinks Missouri will be on the outside looking in on the College Football Playoff for those reasons.

Probably old news but I read an article last week somewhere that some of our players really hate all these night games. I think I've heard that before about players in general but first I remember hearing it from Vols.

That would suck having to just hang around all day with all that penned up energy.

There's a big flaw with the 12-team College Football Playoff and it could impact the Tennessee Vols

From The Athletic: In going through SEC schedules, I realized Tennessee by season’s end may face only four teams that finish .500 or better (Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia and Vanderbilt), of which I have the Vols winning two (Alabama and Vandy). I had to drop them out.

We can argue with those projections all day. That's not the point. The point is that the national media, which often accurately reflects the opinion of the playoff committee, has Tennessee as a bubble team right now. And that means that the Vols, unlike what we previously thought, probably need to beat Georgia to get into the playoff (depending on what happens with other teams ranked in the top 10 right now).

That sounds familiar. No guarantee that you get in with 2 losses.

That's what I hear from a bunch of media types, but it's not true. We're guaranteed a spot in the playoffs with 2 losses. I'll find the threads if you need proof.

The assumption is that the SEC strength carries a 2 loss team in. The SEC has too much parity this year to assume that, imo.

I've seen social experiments online where people dress in a hard hat, hi res vest, and clipboard and get into places they aren't invited or paid to enter. So, if we get an unvitation from the playoffs, I think we should sneak in.

Some good info here. Worth reading

Then there’s the one-loss teams. Texas and Texas A&M play each other and despite all the love for most the season, I think losing to the Aggies would definitely put Texas behind Tennessee. Its best win would likely be at Vanderbilt.

Okay, but that 11/16 gaters/tiggers game....I'll do it for Tennessee, but I ain't gone like it

Here’s a few games that are sneakily really important to Tennessee’s 10-2 resume. A lot of games here between one playoff contender and another solid team that’s not going to make the playoffs. I’ll bold the team that Tennessee should be rooting for

  • 11/2 — Texas A&M @ South Carolina
  • 11/2 — Ole Miss @ Arkansas
  • 11/2 — Pitt @ SMU
  • 11/9 — Clemson @ Virginia Tech
  • 11/9 — Alabama @ LSU
  • 11/16 — Clemson @ Pitt (Unless SMU is unbeaten)
  • 11/16 — LSU @ Florida
  • 11/16 — Texas @ Arkansas
  • 11/23 — Penn State @ Minnesota
  • 11/23 — Pitt @ Louisville
  • 11/23 — Army vs Notre Dame
  • 11/30 — Texas @ Texas A&M
  • 11/30 — Notre Dame @ USC
  • 11/30 — South Carolina @ Clemson

A group of us were on Mud Island to hear a concert without paying to go in the amphitheater. I saw a security golf cart and ‘borrowed’ it thinking we could get backstage if we were in an official cart.

It didn’t work and we ended being chased by security guards. We didn’t get caught, so that is one night I did not spend at 201 Poplar Ave.

If Bama beats LSU, LSU is eliminated because of 3 losses so they can beat Gators...

But a UF win does help us more than LSU win...

I looked at the SEC standings Sunday and figured all those out, but didn't look at the other conferences. I also read the article, but I wasn't really sure so thanks for the confirmation. Lulz.
