The Vietnamese make French bread with a bit of rice flour. The result in a light fluffy interior with a crisp flakey exterior. It's not as chewy as classic French bread and makes a fine roll for freshly cooked sausages.

There's a lot of French infuence in Vietnamese cuisine (maybe not so much in the street food, but I don't know.) But yeah, a lot of French in Vietnamese culture ("Indochine" back in the day.)
