Windy's football discussion thread.

Its not a multi million dollar enterprise like you're used to. They can't go out and interview the replacement like other businesses can.

Florida didn't have their next guy when they fired Mac. Most don't. That part ain't just us.

The PSU thing is baffling. I don't even know what to say.

I don't know. I'm at a loss.
Agree with our points... will say for the first quarter the D actually played well, nice blitzes and containment. Then it turned into a 6th grade schoolyard game and that part is bewildering.

Hold up, my Behr baby!

Think about something for a second. Disregard what you hear and see in the media. Are you 100% most programs (with the occasional anomaly) don't have a handshake deal with the next guy prior to cutting the current one loose?

I know Florida was trying to hire Chip after they fired Mac so it dorsnt seem they had any kind of a deal with him and doubt they had a handshake deal with Mullen during all of that.

But I'll admit that I'm not positive its like that all the time with everyone.

It still seems to me that any program should have a Rolodex with 5-10 coaches’ names tagged.

What would we do if Pruitt (or any other head coach) were hit by a bus in year 2? There should always be a plan B going, at varying levels of development.

I do not trust what we see in the media regarding searches and hiring. And, i understand there is a process to get permission from superiors to approach an employed coach. But if I am AD, I've got my next guy on the hook before i cut ties. Too mant get their guy for it to not happen this way.

BYU scored 12 points against Utah. That does not translate into beating the Vols like a drum in Neyland next Saturday.

There’s no way of knowing who will show up.
The team that beat Kentucky and Barn are still inside there somewhere. It’s unlikely but they could show up

Well maybe you've heard wrong about Tennessee's coaching searches.

No. Even if we came out and beat the crap out of Ga St, I wouldn't feel better about this program. Time and time again, we see us win these games that we should, but then crumble when we play the big boys, heck even the average boys, but also happen to have a lucky win thrown in there.

I'm a you have to prove it to me type person. I don't just jump on the train and believe you can be a coach here. Sure I get excited for every new season, but I don't go into each game thinking we will win.

How is all of that working out for you?

Yeah, there is a wave off the coast of Africa I started paying attention to the last couple of days.

I will say it again for the umpteenth time, I miss earthquakes. They just happen, you don’t follow their progress for a week or two.
I have some family in California. My cousins wife pisted a video a few weeks ago of one they had. They have a huge chandelier, and that thing was rocking hard.

A question for the rational posters here in this thread.
If we had managed to win would it in anyway change your opinion on where we’re headed as a program?

My thoughts are we have an attitude problem that should have been solved during the off-season. I wasn’t expecting much this year but I wasn’t expecting this either. Pruitt saying “we’re pretty good “ before the game makes me wonder how out of touch he is with his team.

@McDad
@hog88

@Orangeslice13

I don’t think winning that game would have moved the needle much for me either way. Say they managed to pull that one out it still wouldn’t have negated the piss poor preparation and execution.

Now if they would have handled their business as they were supposed to and drilled them by 20 something points I’d feel a little better about Pruitt and staff.

Works great when you have no expectations.
Just curious.

I'm not criticizing it I just don't get how people can enjoy something like football or sports in general with no expectations going into it.

Different strokes.

I became that person after Saturday and I can’t believe it, after all these years of being a fan. I’ve always been a few steps below the sunshine pumpers. No more.
